What You Will Do:
The Temporary Student Development Coordinator supports holistic student learning and engagement through the coordination of student development programs, digital engagement platforms, and assessment initiatives. This role manages the InvolveU platform to enhance student organization and event participation, develops and trains student leaders to facilitate peer-to-peer conversations, and supports divisional assessment, communications, and operational functions. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Development, this position contributes to a dynamic and student-centered co-curricular experience that promotes leadership, reflection, and personal growth.
This position is temporary through December 19th, 2025 or other date as determined by administration. Essential Responsibilities:
Management, Oversight, and Technical Support for the InvolveU Engagement Platform
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the InvolveU platform, ensuring accurate and effective tracking of student organizations, events, and participation.
- Provide timely technical support and troubleshooting to students, faculty, and staff using the system.
- Collaborate with departments and student groups to optimize platform use for communication, engagement, and activity planning.
- Monitor data quality and system performance through regular reviews and updates.
- Create and deliver training sessions and support materials to promote consistent and informed use of the platform.
Student Development and Facilitation Support for Knowledge Exchange Programming
- Design and implement training programs to equip students with facilitation and leadership skills for peer-led conversation initiatives, including BSEEN.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and support to student facilitators to ensure confident and effective engagement with their peers.
- Coordinate logistics and planning for structured dialogue programs that support personal and academic development.
- Collaborate with campus departments to broaden awareness and participation in these programs.
- Develop educational content and reflection tools that enhance student learning and communication skills.
- Gather and assess feedback to improve the impact and quality of programs.
Coordinate Student Affairs Assessment and Learning Outcomes
- Support efforts to evaluate the impact of co-curricular involvement on student learning and development.
- Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting of student engagement data across platforms.
- Support the Assistant Dean in managing the involveU Champions Collective helping align programs with divisional learning outcomes and priorities.
Support Student Communications and Division Operations
- Partner with Advancement and Marketing to share student accomplishments and program highlights.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for the Assistant Dean, including calendar coordination, meeting preparation, project tracking, and internal communications.
- Contribute to the effectiveness and clarity of student-facing communications and divisional processes.
Other Administrative Responsibilities
- Supervise and support student workers and interns, guiding their contributions toward departmental goals.
- Assist in budget tracking and encourage responsible resource use across student development initiatives.
- Represent the department on campus committees and participate in university-wide projects.
- Contribute to planning and strategic review processes at the divisional and institutional levels.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support evolving departmental and institutional needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Psychology, Social Work or other related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in student affairs or a closely related area
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation and international students
- Strong planning, organizational and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging a wide range of technology platforms to support event planning, student engagement, communication, case management, and collaboration, including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Teams, social media tools, and cloud-based systems. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and digital tools in a dynamic environment
This role also requires the ability to work occasional nights and weekends and the ability to occasionally visit other NLU campuses in the Chicagoland area (Lisle, IL and Wheeling, IL)

The salary range of the grade for this position is $41,429 to $58,000 annually. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
