The position is located at Kensington, MD headquarters. The role is hybrid, in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Position Description
This position works to meet the credit union's goals by increasing employees' job-related skills and knowledge through training. Performs organizational and departmental needs analysis. Develops, designs, implements and evaluates all training programs. Works as business partner to meet CU's goals.
Position Responsibilities
- Conducts ongoing needs assessment to identify areas requiring training and development for all employees. Conducts interviews, surveys and focus groups with employees and management to determine current and future training and development needs. Recommend actions to meet those needs. Creates training plans for Credit Union positions.
- Designs training programs on a variety of topics, including but not limited to, product knowledge, sales and service, Teller operations, Member Service operations, basic compliance, and the Credit Union's core banking platform and related software applications. Collaborates with subject-matter experts to design programs. Develops training materials such as manuals, Power Point presentations, job aids, checklists, and other educational materials. Creates and modify content in the online learning platform. Maintains the Product Knowledge Manual.
- Delivers training programs using a variety of instructional methods, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures. Facilitates training sessions in person and remotely. Coordinates scheduling and preparation of training classes.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop, improve, and/or document the work procedures that are used in conjunction with training programs. Ensure procedures are accessible, accurate, and that changes are documented and communicated in a timely manner to appropriate staff.
- Designs learner assessments and conduct routine observations of employees during training periods. Reports learner progress to supervisors and management as necessary. Create and implement development plans to address employee performance issues when applicable.
- Conducts and maintain the New Employee Orientation program for all Credit Union new hires.
- Assists with the administration of the Credit Union's Succession Planning program. Identifies and creates employee development activities. Promotes Credit Union development programs. Provides assistance and feedback to employees in the development of Individual Development Plans.
- Conducts ongoing evaluation of training programs to determine effectiveness as measured against stated objectives. Makes recommendations for change when evaluation indicates the need for improvement.
- Maintains employee training records, including courses taken, completion dates, cost, vendor, and related information. Produce reports as necessary.
- Administers online learning platforms. Creates and assigns employee curricula. Register employees for access to system and update with changes as necessary. Generate reports as needed.
- Reviews employee training requests and obtains approvals as necessary. Registers employees for external training programs. Prepares an estimate of training expenses for each budget period.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends in talent development, instructional design, training delivery methods, and other developments in the training field.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Credit Union's policies, procedures, products, services, and software applications.
- Contributes to the team effort by performing other related duties as required.
Position Requirements
- Diploma from a public or accredited private high school or G.E.D required
- 2-year college degree or comparable work experience preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in training development and execution. Financial institution experience required
- Ability to develop, design, facilitate and follow-up on all training within the organization
- Professional certifications preferred (i.e. CPTD, APTD)
- Ability to work under limited supervision
- Competent knowledge of BAI, Learning Management System
- Prior experience with our core system, Fiserv preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of credit union systems
- Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and completely
- Analytical skills, attention to detail, good organizational and planning skills
