Responsibilities
The Training Manager (technical) is responsible for developing and executing training strategies that align with the Service and Delivery organization’s goals and improve employee capability and performance. This role ensures the delivery of effective learning and development programs across departments and supports a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Training Strategy & Development
- Analyze current training needs based on organizational objectives, employee performance data, and workforce skill gaps.
- Design and implement a comprehensive training strategy covering onboarding, compliance, technical, soft skills, leadership, and professional development.
- Define learning objectives, content scope, instructional formats, and delivery timelines for all training programs.
- Align training programs with departmental goals, core competencies, and performance expectations.
Program Design & Delivery
- Develop training content using a variety of formats (e-learning, instructor-led, blended learning, workshops, etc.).
- Ensure all necessary documentation such as SOP and process documentation are created and up to date.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions personally or through internal subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Coordinate with department heads to tailor training modules to functional requirements.
- Partner with external training vendors, consultants, or institutions as needed.
Learning Management & Tools
- Maintain and update all training materials, manuals, e-courses, and records.
- Introduce innovative training technologies (e.g., AR/VR, gamification) when applicable.
Employee Onboarding
- Oversee and continually improve new hire onboarding programs, ensuring employees are effectively integrated into the company culture and operations.
- Work with HR and departmental managers to define onboarding schedules and training paths.
Evaluation & Reporting
- Establish KPIs to measure training effectiveness, learning retention, and business impact.
- Track and report on participation, feedback, certification rates, and ROI of L&D initiatives.
- Continuously improve programs based on evaluations, feedback, and best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with department heads, HRBPs, and senior leaders to align learning strategies with business priorities.
- Act as an internal consultant to advise managers on team development strategies.
- Promote a learning culture across the organization through awareness campaigns and communications.
Compliance & Certification
- Work with HR and other related areas to ensure mandatory and compliance-based training (e.g., safety, data protection, industry-specific regulations) is delivered and tracked.
- Develop and maintain certifications and training documentation for audit purposes.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a team of trainers or instructional designers (if applicable).
- Build strong relationships across departments to identify training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Support managers in developing coaching, feedback, and leadership capabilities.
Performance Management
- Goal Setting and Alignment: Set appropriate goals and effectively performance manage supervisors and team members. Ensure that individual and team goals contribute to overall company success.
- Coaching and Development: Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to employees to help them meet performance expectations and achieve their career development goals. Identify skill gaps and facilitate appropriate training opportunities.
- Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs): Work with managers to design and implement performance improvement plans for employees not meeting expectations. Provide guidance and follow-up to ensure progress is made.
- Conduct Performance Reviews: Lead and facilitate regular performance reviews, providing clear and actionable feedback. Work with managers to assess individual contributions, recognize achievements, and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in training, learning and development, or talent management, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and learning evaluation methods (Kirkpatrick model).
- Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, SAP Litmos, Cornerstone, etc.) and digital content creation tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate).
- Exceptional presentation, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP or CPTD)
- Instructional Design certifications or Agile Learning credentials
