Responsibilities*
- Analyze training needs and collaborate with team members, technical teams, subject matter experts, and partners to design, develop, and deliver effective learning solutions across multiple modalities, including instructor led (in person and virtual), online learning, video, and curated content.
- Create, maintain, and update high quality learning materials such as curricula, eLearning modules, videos, and technical environments or scenario-based training content.
- Facilitate engaging training sessions (including full day sessions), virtually and/or in person, to promote efficient system use and effective integration of technology into end-user workflows.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve and update content based on learner feedback, system updates, and changing business or technical requirements.
- Support training and operations through learning administration and customer support activities, such as LMS management, attendance tracking, pre/post training communications,
- Troubleshooting, quality assurance, and customer service requests.
- Support implementation of new training modules, application implementations, upgrades, and workflow transitions, providing education and 1:1 or small?group support as needed.
- Train, credential, coach, and mentor other team members in assigned applications, technologies, and instructional design and delivery best practices.
- Lead small to medium scale training projects, including curriculum planning, project documentation, scheduling, and oversight through completion.
- Consult with IT and business partners to design and implement learning solutions for projects not directly owned by the Learning Design & Delivery team.
- Maintain advanced working knowledge of assigned applications, services, technologies, and productivity tools, and obtain or maintain required technical certifications (e.g., Epic, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow).
What You'll Do
As an IT Instructional Designer on our Learning Design and Delivery (LDD) team within Health Information Technology and Services (HITS), you will partner with customers, technical team members, subject matter experts, and learners across Michigan Medicine. You will leverage learner centered design practices to create learning experiences that enable users to effectively use IT applications and services in their daily work as well as support eLearning development for various partners in the organization.
Required Qualifications*
Minimum Requirements (Senior Level)
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 - 8 years of professional experience in a learning-related role.
Minimum Requirements (Intermediate Level)
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 - 5 years of professional experience in a learning related role.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelors degree in relevant field such as Instructional Design, Training, Information Technology, Education, or related field.
- Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Learning Design & Technology, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in training delivery, instructional design principles and adult learning theory, particularly in technical or software-based training environments.
- Experience developing eLearning using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, or comparable platforms.
- Proven experience leading or contributing to training and instructional design projects.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate with stakeholders across organizational levels.
- Demonstrated interest in applying emerging learning technologies and instructional approaches.
- Experience working in a healthcare or clinical environment.
- Prior experience with Epic.

Work Locations
This position is being made available with the ability for you to negotiate alternative work schedules and remote/on-site options to suit your work-life balance. This position may require some in-person training or support which will require the ability to be on-site as needed for classroom sessions. Non-Michigan residents should inquire about potential employment while working remotely in a state other than Michigan.
