Summary of position:
The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist supports the implementation of the statewide training program for the Nutrition Navigators Technical Assistance Contract by coordinating and developing training for Nutrition Navigator Direct Service Organizations, community-based organizations, local Departments of Social Services (DSS), and other community partners throughout New York State.
Reporting to the Training Manager, the Training and Technical Assistance Specialist assists in the delivery of both virtual and in-person training, assists in curriculum development, maintains training resources, coordinates logistics, and provides follow-up technical assistance to direct service organizations as a continuum of the training spectrum.
The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist works collaboratively with Hunger Solutions New York staff to ensure training is current, engaging, and responsive to the needs of partner organizations. The ideal candidate has effective communication and organizational skills, experience working with adult learners, and a commitment to improving access to SNAP and other nutrition assistance programs.

Responsibilities of the position include:
- Assist in the delivery of high-quality virtual and in-person training programs for Nutrition Navigator organizations and community partners.
- Co-facilitate statewide training sessions with the Training Manager and independently facilitate assigned trainings.
- Conduct orientation sessions for newly participating Nutrition Navigator organizations.
- Present information clearly and effectively to audiences with varying levels of experience.
- Adapt training approaches to meet the learning needs of diverse audiences.
- Travel throughout New York State to conduct on-site training and attend partner meetings, conferences, and outreach events.
- Assist in developing and updating training curricula, presentations, participant guides, job aids, webinars, and other instructional materials.
- Revise training content to reflect changes in SNAP policy, OTDA guidance, and contract requirements.
- Maintain a centralized library of training materials and reference resources.
- Support the creation of online learning modules and recorded webinars.
- Coordinate training schedules, registrations, and participant communications.
- Prepare training materials for Training Manager prior to trainings.
- Manage participant attendance records and continuing education documentation, as applicable.
- Coordinate meeting logistics for virtual and in-person events.
- Ensure training evaluations are distributed and collected and feedback is recorded.
- Respond to participant questions before, during, and after training sessions.
- Provide follow-up support and clarification regarding training content.
- Direct participants to appropriate technical assistance resources when additional support is needed.
- Build positive relationships with partner organizations through responsive customer service and ongoing communication.
- Monitor training participation and completion.
- Identify emerging training needs.
- Recommend improvements to training materials and instructional methods.
- Assist in preparing reports summarizing training activities and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Associate’s or commensurate experience required) in Education, Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, Public Administration, Nutrition, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience delivering training, facilitating workshops, or providing education to adult learners preferred.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or community-based organizations.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Experience working with SNAP or other federal nutrition assistance programs.
- Knowledge of New York State OTDA programs and community services.
- Experience developing instructional materials and online learning content.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS).
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another language commonly spoken in New York communities is a plus.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist must reside in the state of New York and be able to commute to and work in office 2-3 days per week.

Compensation and benefits:
Hunger Solutions New York is committed to its employees and thusly provides a competitive compensation package. Salary is commensurate with experience, but is expected to be $50K – $60K annually. Hunger Solutions New York offers fully paid benefit premiums including health, dental, life, short- and long-term disability, and a retirement plan that offers a 6% match (different vesting periods apply to each benefit and will be discussed as part of the interview process). A Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) may be available depending upon the health insurance package chosen. Additionally, Hunger Solutions New York offers a generous amount of time off to each employee.
