In alignment with USG's strategic direction, staff in the Transfer Access Center, within the Division of Student Affairs and Career Readiness, play a key role in helping students become aware of and enter educational and career pathways aligned with the USG's four Industry Hubs. The Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for creating awareness and interest in the USG's surrounding community with a goal of inspiring learners to engage in degree and certificate attainment in high quality academic programs offered at USG. To accomplish this goal, the Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with the broader USG Transfer Access team to create opportunities for career and campus exploration in alignment with USG's unique student pathway model. This will include regular visits and engagement with local educational partners within the Montgomery County Public School System, as well as with regional community colleges.
The Transfer Access and Outreach Coordinator will regularly lead activities designed to engage students in exploration of their personal strengths, interests, and values so that each can find a unique fit within an academic program offered at the USG Campus. The Coordinator will also be responsible for highlighting the unique added value that USG offers as a campus focused on career readiness, launching graduates into in-demand careers in the region. General responsibilities will include career exploration, and transfer coaching for prospective students, tabling and presentations at feeder institutions and community agencies/events, collaboration with industry hubs for coordination of high-quality events which showcase USG's many benefits, and the development of partnerships with the regional educators, community-based organizations, and employers.
Purpose of Position:
- Increased awareness about USG's academic programs and the benefits of studying at the regional higher education campus;
- Co-development and implementation of a menu of activities designed to allow prospective students to explore USG's academic programs via industry sectors.
- Promotion of USG's added value as a "career readiness" campus through the co-development and implementation of career exploration and readiness activities with a recruitment objective;
- Enhanced collaboration with USG's academic partners through USG Industry Sector Hubs to increase awareness and prospective student engagement;
- Increased and strengthened partnerships within the regional educational ecosystem and community;
- Enhanced engagement and outcome data collection to promote a better understanding of prospective student preferences, behaviors, and staff activities linked to enrollment and perseverance to reach goals.
Physical Demands:
Extended periods of computer work; physical activities include set up and break down of events, standing for long periods of time, and travel to various locations (e.g. to attend outreach events, employer events, community events, etc.). This position requires working some evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to lift 25+ lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in student counseling, admissions, campus involvement, community outreach, or higher education.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of counseling and advising best practices.
Knowledge of recruitment strategies and outreach initiatives.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Bachelor's degree
Experience:
Two years of professional experience providing support to college students or to students pursuing higher education;
One year of experience coaching students on career and college related topics.
