ULC Assistant Instructional Aide, Humanities Full Description

The Learning Enterprise at ASU seeks creative, highly motivated, self-directed, detail-oriented candidates with strong written and verbal skills to assist with grading and course management for Universal Learner Courses (ULC), which are delivered remotely. ULCs are scalable and delivered asynchronously, and can have between 200-1,000+ learners in each course. Hours are not guaranteed and can vary between 5-20 hours per week, per 8-week session.
The ULC Assistant Instructional Aide(s) for Humanities will support faculty with learner assessment in online courses by providing feedback and grade support to learners on in-class activities and assignments, and may be tasked to help learners navigate challenges within the course shell.

Areas/Courses of Interest
The successful candidate will be able to grade in one or more of the following areas: History, Political Science, Global Studies, Criminal Justice, Social Science, Religious Studies, Social Work, Communications, Education, English.

Essential Duties
  • Feedback and Grading: Provide substantive feedback and grade learner assignments in a timely manner.
  • Learner Support: Address learner challenges within the course shell via discussion boards, and host live sessions with learners as assigned by faculty.
  • Training: Participate in initial training sessions as well as other calibration sessions as needed (synchronous or asynchronous).

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Additional Notes
  • This is a temporary part-time (PRN) position, with maximum hours of 19.5 per week.
  • ASU will not sponsor this position; the applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • This position requires fingerprinting as a mandatory step in the hiring process.
  • This role will be based in the state of Arizona; special permissions for out-of-state employment are required and may not be granted.
