We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. Role Purpose
The Vice President, Deployment is a new executive role responsible for architecting, building, and scaling BetterUp’s deployment function — the engine that brings our platform to life for partners. This leader owns the end-to-end deployment lifecycle, spanning configuration, integrations, change enablement, and communications, ensuring that complex enterprise launches translate into measurable value and enduring impact. They will define the operating model, build world-class teams, and codify a repeatable approach to deploying BetterUp at scale. As the architect of deployment excellence, this leader ensures every customer experience — from signature to activation — is delivered with precision, purpose, and speed.

What Success Looks Like
  • BetterUp successfully transitions from a product/solution-focused (SaaS-like) deployment model to a services-led platform deployment where forward-deployed resources tailor the platform to fit the customer context and deliver on business value promises.
  • BetterUp deployments consistently achieve faster time-to-value and measurable partner outcomes.
  • A scalable, codified deployment playbook exists across configuration, integrations, and change management.
  • Forward-deployed technical teams operate in tight alignment with Product and Engineering, using shared standards and processes.
  • The Deployment function operates efficiently with clear accountability for cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Partners experience a seamless journey from contract to activation, strengthening trust and driving retention and expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design & Build
    1. Define the vision, structure, and new operating model for the Deployment function, aligned to BetterUp’s platform and Services strategy.
    2. Build the foundational playbooks, delivery standards, and success metrics that enable scalable, repeatable deployments.
  2. Lead & Develop
    1. Directly lead Client Delivery Directors, Configuration Squads, and Communications & Change Partners.
    2. Inspire, develop, and retain exceptional talent across technical and delivery disciplines.
  3. Partner & Align
    1. Collaborate deeply with Product and Engineering to align forward-deployed teams (Data Partners, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Forward Deployed PMs) around deployment excellence.
    2. Partner with Customer Success to ensure a seamless handoff to ongoing value realization.
    3. Partner with Sales and Solutions to shape resourcing, scoping, and deployment readiness for every enterprise engagement.
  4. Deliver Excellence
    1. Establish and manage KPIs for deployment quality, cost, and time-to-value.
    2. Drive continuous improvement through feedback loops between field learnings and product innovation.
    3. Ensure consistent and exceptional experiences for partners, regardless of size, scope, or region.
  5. Scale & Evolve
    1. Build an organization designed to scale to for FY27 & beyond
    2. Introduce tools, systems, and methods that enable automation, efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
    3. Serve as the executive sponsor for deployment transformation initiatives across the company.

Key Interfaces
  • Product & Engineering – Align on roadmap, deployment tooling, and field learnings; ensure technical readiness and configuration excellence.
  • Customer Success – Seamless transition from go-live to adoption and business impact.
  • Sales & Solutions – Align on scoping, packaging, and pre-deployment readiness.
  • Finance & Operations – Manage deployment cost structure, utilization, and performance analytics.

Ideal Experience & Capabilities
  • 15+ years in enterprise software, AI, or platform-based environments with a proven record of leading complex deployments or services organizations.
  • Deep expertise in forward-deployed technical models and customer-facing technical leadership (e.g., Palantir, ServiceNow, Salesforce, OpenAI, or equivalent).
  • Experience designing and scaling operating models for high-complexity, multi-workstream enterprise implementations.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with accountability for cost-to-serve and delivery margin.
  • Ability to translate technical depth into business outcomes and influence across executive stakeholders.
  • Builder mindset: thrives in ambiguity, operates from first principles, and scales systems and people simultaneously.
Near-Term Priorities (First 6–12 Months)
  • Design & stand-up the new Deployment organization, including leadership structure and core roles.
  • Develop and document the end-to-end deployment playbook covering configuration, integrations, change management, and go-live.
  • Establish engagement models and governance across Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.
  • Define and implement key performance metrics (time-to-value, quality, efficiency, satisfaction).
  • Pilot the deployment model with early enterprise partners and refine for scale.
  • Build the foundations — systems, processes, and talent — for global deployment excellence.

The base salary range for the role is as follows:
New York and San Francisco: $280,000 - $385,000
Austin and Arlington: $252,000 - $346,500
