Volunteer Outreach Coordinator Full Description

iMentor is seeking four Volunteer Outreach Coordinators (VOCs) to help recruit volunteer mentors to match with students. They will do this by increasing the number of new leads for iMentor’s regional programs and our partners through passive, grassroots, cold and warm individual outreach techniques. This is a primarily remote, part-time, seasonal position (from September until mid-December) that will support our mentor recruitment teams during their most critical season. This role will report to the Senior Director of Program Operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cold-calling and/or canvassing, volunteer engagement, or prospect research and will have superb phone communication skills with the ability to motivate others to take action. This role will be roughly 20 hours spread across 4-5 days each week. While most work will happen between 9:00-6:00 and hours are somewhat flexible to accommodate your needs, occasional evening and Saturday availability is a must.

Responsibilities
  • Execute call and email campaigns to volunteer prospects in all stages of the volunteer recruitment pipeline–from new lead to safety screening
  • Support prospect research to identify community-based or corporate recruitment partners, outreach channels, relevant community events, and warm leads
  • As needed, support individual volunteers and prospective volunteers to participate in social media referral campaigns and other promotional activities
  • Represent iMentor and partners at tabling events to promote volunteer sign up
  • Support facilitation of mentor orientations–virtual or in person
  • Use all provided systems and processes (including but not limited to Salesforce) to document outreach efforts and support pipeline management

Qualifications
  • Experience with volunteer outreach and engagement
  • Comfortable with cold calling / leading call campaigns; experience canvassing is a strong plus
  • Tech savvy: familiarity with Salesforce, Excel, Google Drive and Zoom
  • Self-driven, able to manage work and solve problems independently in order to produce results
  • Strong phone communication skills; able to engage and motivate others to take action, and adept at quick thinking and pivoting the conversation as needed to achieve results
  • Demonstrated alignment with iMentor's mission, core values, and commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative community.
  • Recognizes and values the unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of all individuals, and actively contributes to a welcoming and collaborative environment.
  • Our organization works in partnership with district public schools across the country. In doing so we must meet all compliance requirements of those districts including background checks.
  • iMentor is committed to ensuring healthy and safe environments for our staff, mentors, and the students we serve. In order to fully comply with the NYC Vaccine mandate, all iMentor employees (regardless of role or region) are required to be fully vaccinated priority to their start date.

Compensation & Logistics
  • Hourly rate of $28/hour before taxes and other deductions
  • Roughly 20 hours/week spread across 4-5 days each week. While most work will happen between 9:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m. and hours are somewhat flexible to accommodate your needs, occasional evening and Saturday availability is a must.
  • Paid sick time accrues at a rate of 7 days per year
  • Hybrid work arrangement, with most work done from home (must have home internet)
  • Open to remote-only work (with a strong preference for individuals who can do occasional in-person work in either Chicago or NYC)
