Position Summary:
This role is part of Wiley's newly established Corporate Markets organization, created to accelerate revenue growth and operational efficiency through customer-centric, cross-functional structures across two segments: Audience Solutions and R&D.
The VP Sales, R&D position represents a transformational opportunity to unlock significant value from Wiley's extensive R&D content repository and intellectual property assets. This role will consolidate previously disconnected revenue streams across Spectral databases and R&D content subscriptions and AI licensing. The position offers the opportunity to create new revenue streams, establish Wiley as the premier partner for corporate R&D initiatives, and build scalable sales capabilities that maximize the commercial potential of our world-class research assets across diverse industry verticals.
The VP Sales, R&D will define and implement sales and go-to-market strategies across spectral databases, research subscriptions, and clinical outcome assessments. This involves establishing strategic direction for R&D sales operations and creating integrated approaches to maximize the commercial potential of Wiley's intellectual property assets.
Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Markets, this role involves key relationships with R&D product leaders, AI Growth team leadership, Corporate Markets functional leaders, and existing sales team members. External relationships include corporate R&D decision-makers, research organization leadership, and strategic partners. Success depends on building trust across diverse stakeholder groups while driving toward unified business objectives.
The role spans pharmaceutical healthcare, consumer health, veterinary, bioprocessing, engineering, analytical, and life sciences sectors. It requires navigating complex sales environments, developing approaches for high-value deals, and identifying emerging opportunities within corporate R&D segments.
The role encompasses three integrated business areas: Spectral Databases, Clinical Outcome Assessments, and Specialty Sales. Success requires coordinated approaches that leverage interconnected product capabilities and present integrated value propositions.
How you will make an impact:
- Define and implement integrated go-to-market strategies across Spectral databases, Clinical Outcome Assessments, and R&D subscriptions/licensing.
- Consolidate previously disconnected revenue streams into a unified sales operation.
- Develop new revenue opportunities from Wiley's R&D content repository and intellectual property assets.
- Lead and take full accountability for specialized sales force teams, establishing a performance framework and clear accountability measures.
- Collaborate strategically and operationally with CM LT, AI Growth org, and shared results.
- Execute sales strategies in key verticals and global markets, navigating high-value complex sales processes.
- Transform siloed business units into a cohesive, strategic sales organization.
- Leverage a network of corporate contacts and sales performance ability to establish Wiley as a premier partner for corporate R&D initiatives.
We are Looking for People Who Have:
- Degree in Data, Software, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or Law-related fields.
- Senior sales leader in the information services sector.
- Experience in Healthcare, Software, Engineering, or AI industries.
- Strategy, AI, Intellectual Property, R&D.
- Marketing, Publishing, Scientific research workflows, Tech-enabled research solutions.
- Proven track record of driving sales revenue in global markets.
- Problem solver, Independent thinker
- Senior-level sales leadership experience in B2B environments serving corporate R&D markets.
- Demonstrated success in key verticals.
- Experience managing complex, high-value sales processes.
- Proven ability to scale sales operations from early-stage potential to established revenue performance.
