The Vice President of Strategic Sales will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth by leading and implementing Strategic Sales initiatives in the Academic sector. This role will be responsible for overseeing Sales teams in both Europe and America and ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies to meet and exceed business objectives.

The role will also be responsible for the execution of our Strategic Sales Go-To-Market model for related customers, with the successful adoption of a sales ‘pod’ approach in all markets.
 
How you will make an impact:
 
Sales Leadership:

• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth and market share in the academic sector.
• Provide visionary leadership to Sales teams in Europe and America, ensuring alignment with global business goals.
• Effective management of direct reports in order to attain and exceed sales plan.
• Oversee and manage forecasting, phasing and re-forecasting for sales into the library sector, including journals license and other WOL library sector business.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including academic institutions, libraries, and researchers.
 
Team Leadership

• Develop skills, competencies and behaviors of team, aligned with broader Sales org culture; attracts and acquires talent into the team.
• Implement best practices with sales teams in line with our intent to instil a culture of high sales performance.
 
Industry knowledge & insight

• Establish, maintain, and share a deep understanding of Europe and Americas Academic sector structure and trends, rate of market growth, number and types of competitors, nature and degree of political and legal influences and constraints.
• Accountable for consistent, effective, and reliable sales forecasting and renewal & opportunity pipeline management.
 
Policy & Process
• Work with cross-functional colleagues (Ops, Marketing, Finance), and demonstrate a high attentional to detail, to complete projects and/or develop complex solutions.
• Be familiar with all policies and business terms for Wiley’s different offerings into the Library sector. Also ensure through the  SAM team management structure that an appropriate level  of familiarity is embedded at all sales levels where it is necessary.
 
Requirements 
• Proven track record as Global Senior Sales Leader.
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in business administration. 
• 10+ years in the publishing industry
• High fluency around Open Access trends, in region and globally
• Strong Leadership ability with both direct operating and soft power skills, influencing without authority, and being a connector within the organization. 
•  Experience managing geographically and culturally diverse team
• Strong understanding of the strategic uses of CRM and marketing automation  platform in a complex product and model environment.
