Pay Range Information  
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary 
The Web Specialist is responsible for the development and optimization of digital content on Chapman University’s website and public facing web properties, mainly in support of the institution’s undergraduate and graduate admission efforts. The Specialist provides support for the maintenance of Chapman University’s external web presence, including designing and developing websites and webpages, counseling partners across campus regarding their sections of Chapman’s marketing sites. This position also reviews and ensures the quality of submitted content as it relates to branding, messaging, SEO, readability, and accessibility, including compliance with other Chapman and governmental or accredidation policies.This position is in person in Orange, CA. The successful candidate will be expected to be in the office 3-5 days a week.

Responsibilities  | Provide consistent support, guidance and oversight of public-facing school / college / department web properties: Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day usage of the university’s core website content management systems. Proactively optimize web pages with partners for brand compliance, accessibility, SEO, and digital marketing best practices. Review and approve web page submissions and provide content optimization recommendations for page layout, visuals, writing, and user experience. Update or create (as needed) website and content management system related procedures and best practices for the SMC Knowledge Base/SOPs. Train and offer continued support to campus partners in both technical and user experience areas related to the Chapman website. Provide support for our homegrown tools, including events.chapman, and signage.chapman.

Design, develop and maintain web pages, templates, and related content to support institutional goals and marketing objectives:Manage key institutional web pages to ensure content is current, accurate and supports institutional goals. Meet with internal and campus partners to create and/or enhance web pages to meet project priorities and achieve campaign objectives. Ensure that the web page content, templates and layouts support recruitment, enrollment, and retention goals. Develop and test new website templates, components and widgets to enhance the user experience.

Proactively optimize Chapman web pages and content for search engine optimization, usability, accessibility, and other digital marketing best practices:
Test and evaluate marketing websites through web metrics, competitor analysis, user testing, focus groups and site audits, identifying needs and making recommendations for enhancements and fixes. Use provided website tools to identify and act on opportunities to improve on-page SEO Monitor and provide reports with recommendations for SEO opportunities on university websites. Use web analytics, dashboard, and site health tools to evaluate website performance, marketing, accessibility, and navigational effectiveness and educate other members of the marketing team and campus partners.

Required Qualifications 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, communications, marketing, business, data analytics or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and other frontend development technologies and experience with online publishing and content management systems like Modern Campus, WordPress, Drupal etc. Excellent web design, prototyping, and copy-editing skills. Entrepreneurial, self-starter with tact and diplomacy skills. Strong attention to detail and project management skills Ability to quickly learn and adapt to enterprise systems, software and tools. Excellent communications skills and time management. Ability to follow policies and procedures for Chapman University and the department; able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve web issues for Chapman constituents. Working knowledge of web environments with the ability to conduct test and pull web analytics

Desired Qualifications 
Ability to create and present reports. Strong working knowledge of search engine optimization, accessibility, web analytics (ex. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Looker Studio, SiteImprove, SEMRush etc), and web marketing principles. Experience in media selection and web accessibility standards/guidelines Ability to present to and train individuals in a large group, small class or one-on-one setting.
