WHAT IS THE ROLE ABOUT? As the Regional Sales Manager for our West Higher Ed team, you will utilize your industry and management expertise to develop your team as they work to achieve the next level of success. You will provide guidance on development and execution of the overall sales strategy for VHL’s suite of print and digital products.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:        
  • Direct, develop, mentor and coach a field-based sales team in order to deliver profitable growth
  • Carefully analyze and evaluate opportunity reports with entrepreneurial eyes in order to identify new opportunities and forecasts to prioritize and drive territory growth
  • Develop, implement and adjust strategic plans with an eye to exceed regional business development and sales goals 
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of the full suite of print and digital VHL products.
  • Maintain tight oversight of customer trends, market landscape, competitive insights and consumer trends in order to drive action plans and develop winning tactics to the field
  • Provides feedback and prepares regular reports to Sales, Marketing & Technology leadership
  • Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences when appropriate
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing clients, manage and close strategic opportunities
  • Ensure consistent utilization, management and administration of Salesforce.com (CRM), products, technology and policies
  • Manage region's expenses and ensure that they are within budget and proper coverage.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders 

YOU MUST HAVE(MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)       
  • A Bachelor’s degree 
  • 10+ years successful consultative sales experience selling both digital and print based products within the publishing, education technology (ed-tech) or similar industry 
  • 3+ years’ leadership experience managing and developing both remote/field-based sales team members and other people managers with a strong ‘player-coach’ mentality
  • Experience using a CRM, analyzing sales data and creating accurate regional forecasts
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, prospecting, planning, presentation, negotiation, relationship building, territory management and active listening skills 
  • A willingness to travel within the region (up to 60%) in order to support team member development and success 

IDEAL IF YOU HAVE OR ARE(PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE):       
  • Experience with Salesforce.com
  • Reside within the state of California
  • Familiarity with VHL’s products and/or the Higher Education market
  • An advanced degree
  • A working knowledge of multiple languages (Spanish or French specifically)

LOCATION: In order to be considered, candidates must reside in one of the following region specific states: California (CA), Washington (WA), Oregon (OR) or Utah (UT) and within close proximity to an airport in order to meet the travel requirements. Our ideal candidate will reside in California (CA). Relocation is not available for this position.        
       
SALARY RANGE: $110,000 - $130,000  
This position is salaried and it is eligible for sales incentives based on employee and organizational performance.
