JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut Hartford Campus is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor 1 (P3). Under the supervision of the Director of Advising, Hartford campus, the successful candidate will academically advise undergraduate students across all schools and colleges and support administrative support functions at the Universityâs Hartford Campus. The incumbent will work with a dynamic team of professional advisors and administrative staff across the University and support students in their academic and personal goals by promoting student-centered partnerships. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport and establish trust with first-generation students and students from diverse backgrounds. It is also an expectation that the incumbent advances the Universityâs commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of their work.Â
Centered on teaching, research, and service in and about the global city, the UConn Hartford campus serves a community of approximately 1500 students, including large first-generation (49%) and minoritized (63%) populations. With a vision of academic excellence focused on community-based, collaborative learning, UConn Hartford plays a critical role in advancing the Universityâs commitment to innovation, leadership, global engagement, and cultural and intellectual diversity. The Hartford campus offers undergraduate classes in 36 departments and master's, doctoral, and certificate programs in four disciplines. Students can complete majors in English, Human Development and Family Sciences, Business Data Analytics, Individualized & Interdisciplinary Studies, Urban and Community Studies, General Studies, Psychological Sciences, Urban and Community Studies, Marketing Management, Fast-Track in Public Policy and Social Work.
