Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Bronco One Stop is a centralized space where students can access standard services to help them navigate Fayetteville State University. The goal of the Bronco One Stop is to enhance the student experience by simplifying the application process, managing academic records, handling financial aid, making payments, consulting with an advisor to register for classes, seeking assistance with degree planning, receiving academic support, and navigating university resources.

Fayetteville State University’s Advising Center’s mission is to promote student success by empowering students to achieve their academic and career aspirations. The Center delivers high-quality services by providing support with educational planning, course selection, resource awareness, and success strategies.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The English departmental academic advisor will provide academic advisement to students enrolled in majors assigned to the Department of Communication, Languages, and Cultures, the Department of English. The academic advisor will ensure that advisees take full advantage of academic support opportunities and that students experience no unnecessary obstacles to degree completion.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist students, using a developmental model, with developing the knowledge, skills, and personal accountability needed to explore their academic and co-curricular options, evaluate and track their own progress toward graduation, access support and enrichment services, and understand and follow university policies and timelines. The academic advisor addresses the general advising, registration, and enrollment needs of Fayetteville State University students to increase retention and graduation rates. This position includes the assignment of up to two UNIV seminar courses, depending on institutional need.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. Prefer a degree in English, social sciences, counseling or related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of advising, recruitment, counseling, coaching or relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Requires the ability to use a personal computer to complete duties and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (WORD, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as other related student management Software.
•Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; be able to manage a wide variety of records, files, and reports.
•Must have personal and professional attributes to include punctuality, diligence, commitment, integrity, teamwork, and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Higher Education Experience in advising or student success programs.
