Primary Purpose of the Organization:  | The Bronco One Stop is a centralized space for students to access common student services to strengthen their ability to navigate Fayetteville State University. The goal of Bronco One Stop is to enhance the student experience with the application process, academic records, financial aid, making payments, speaking with an advisor to register for classes, gaining assistance with degree planning, receiving academic support, and navigating university resources.

Primary Purpose of the Position:  | The primary purpose of this position is to assist students in making an effective transition to Fayetteville State University. This 12-month position assists with providing first-year services by coordinating programs designed to improve student retention, teaching sections of First Year Experience Seminar and/or University Studies as needed, coaching students who experience academic difficulties, and developing/facilitating training for the first-year experience team.

Duties Include:
Teaching First Year Experience Seminar
Teach the First Year Experience Seminar course designed to transition, connect, and acclimate new students to Fayetteville State University. Teach a maximum of 2 sections of the Freshman Seminar per semester. Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers. Prepare and deliver instructional materials (i.e., syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or online. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Compile, administer, and grade examinations. Participate in required reporting processes (i.e., grades, participation, etc.).Monitor students’ progress toward mastery of course learning outcomes. Utilize Canvas and Banner to manage the course, including tracking attendance and submitting mid-term and final grades.

Retention Programming for the First Year Experience
Collaborate with campus partners to design, implement, and assess retention programs to assist students in their successful transition into college. Support freshmen advisors with the assessment of students’ academic and non-academic preparation for college, identification of high-risk students, and the development of interventions to support persistence into the 2nd year at FSU. Assist in the coordination of new student orientation. Provide coaching that is designed to increase a student’s ability to become a more self-directed learner and assist students in connecting to college resources. Monitor student progress and intervene as needed with students experiencing academic difficulty. Refer students to University resources as needed. Utilize EAB Navigate student success software to submit early alerts and manage institutional retention efforts. Other Duties Assigned.

Team Training
Coordinate and deliver onboarding training for all newly hired First Year Experience team members, providing guidance on daily operations, university systems, and student support practices. Develop and maintain user-friendly training materials such as guides, e-documents, and digital modules to support staff learning and consistency. Facilitate refresher training sessions for the FYE team each semester to reinforce best practices and introduce process updates. Gather feedback and monitor team performance to evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Customer Service
Respond to inquiries from students with care and quality services via phone, email, and in person. Serve students through virtual, walk-in, and other programming methods that best meet their needs.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:  | The successful candidate must have a master’s degree with specific training, coursework, and/or experience in higher education, counseling, or an education related field. Must have experience working with student success programs in a higher education setting.

SkillsCommunication skills to explain, write, advocate for, and report on the needs of student learning outcomes; interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty; pedagogical skills to provide effective instruction to individual students and classes; proficient use of computers, student success technology, Canvas, Degree Works, EAB Navigate, Microsoft Office, and Zoom/TEAMS; must be attentive to detail, possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize while multi-tasking and manage tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
