Access Management Manager / Information Technologist III/S Full Description

Working/Functional Title
Access Management Manager

Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing leadership guidance for team members relating to access management process, procedures, privileged account management and role-based access controls, while preserving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Identity services for the organization. The Access Management Manager, reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, will act as a resource, on a consistent basis, to team architects and analysts in the interpretation, analysis, and/or resolution of all Access Management related topics. Also acts as a resource to stakeholders in other business units on campus who rely on technology for business operations in order to elicit access and identity needs and concerns. Responsibilities include providing team leadership for access management staff, providing supervision and mentoring to ensure successful outcomes of activities as they pertain to the management process, ensuring the timely, accurate, and secure processing of new application on-boarding to ensure appropriate user adds, changes, and deletions are performed accurately and efficiently, conducting research on current and emerging trends in the identity and access management quadrant, developing and maintaining technologies and processes in support of the management for identities of privileged system users, managing all aspects of access control, including the timely processing of requests with a high level of accuracy, developing and maintaining internal standards and best practices by proactively exploring control deficiencies associated with the Access Management systems and processes, monitoring and maintaining effective internal standards across the organization to meet all compliance related business processes (provisioning, de-provisioning, transfers, etc.) in accordance with established institutional policies and procedures, coordinating audit related tasks to ensure the readiness of the Access Management team for audit testing and facilitating the timely resolution of any audit findings, having a firm understanding of regulatory compliance requirements ( FERPNHIPAA/PCI etc.) as they apply to higher education and MSU, monitoring regulations and technology trends that affect higher education institutions, work with Internal Audit and external auditors as necessary during scheduled and non-scheduled IT audits, consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the MSU Higher education mission and values and adhering to the institutional Code of Conduct, maintaining high regard for sensitive data and privacy in accordance with the institutional privacy policies and procedures, maintaining knowledge of all relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensuring that all activities are in compliance with these requirements, conducting periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information. Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; and five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in IAM, identity management, access management, authentication management, also experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications
Working knowledge and experience in use of MSU Identity and access management systems, processes and procedures. Experience in Service Desk ITSM software. The ability to independently manage tasks, projects and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Four or more years in the development of processes and procedure documentation, testing materials and execution, training materials, business and technical requirements gathering; Four or more years of familiarity with Access Management fundamentals such as authentication, authorization, certification, and provisioning. Industry recognized certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CRISC. Strong leadership skills including the ability to build high performing teams and lead change. Excellent communication/people skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to be proactive and lead cross-functional teams to achieve information security objectives. Must provide outstanding service to various stakeholder groups throughout the university.
