Job Summary  | The Accountant II is responsible for the day-to-day management of business and finance functions for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, supporting staff and student-athletes through travel and purchasing processes, budget oversight, and financial analysis in collaboration with the Assistant AD for Business Strategy and the Deputy AD/CFO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  | Oversee Accounts Payable functions for various sports and Athletics units, including initiating purchase requisitions, issuing purchase orders, and processing invoices. Manage accounting tasks for Athletics units, such as procurement/travel card reconciliation, employee reimbursements, and journal entries. Develop tools and analytical models to support long-term financial planning, forecast needs, assess spending trends, and improve operational efficiency across Athletics. Create and distribute comprehensive monthly budget reports, leveraging technology to streamline tracking and reporting processes. Perform monthly cost center reconciliations, ensuring accurate records and compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies. Assist in preparing NCAA and EADA reports, participate in all relevant audit processes, and provide information requested by auditors. Maintain financial records in accordance with University and departmental policies, ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Assist with strategic projects and data-driven initiatives led by the Assistant AD and Senior Associate AD/CFO to enhance financial operations and decision-making. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in relevant area. Two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree. Collegiate athletics experience. PeopleSoft and/or Concur experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  | Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools and applications. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Resourceful and proactive in identifying issues, challenging assumptions, proposing creative solutions, and improving business processes. Ability to analyze and interpret data, processes, and systems to derive meaningful insights for decision-making. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders at various levels.
