The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring an Accounting Technician. This role supports the College of Arts and Sciences Business Operations by handling day-to-day financial transactions, reconciliations, and data management using university systems like ConnectCarolina. The position acts as the primary contact for routine financial inquiries and ensures compliance with institutional policies while collaborating with senior accounting staff.
Highlights
- Perform accounting and financial support functions for the College of Arts and Sciences Business Operations shared services team.
- Process purchasing transactions, travel reimbursements, journal entries, budget transfers, PCard reconciliations, vendor payments, and data entry in ConnectCarolina and other financial systems.
- Serve as first point of contact for departmental inquiries regarding routine financial transactions and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with university and state policies.
- Collaborate with CASBO accounting and financial staff to deliver consistent and efficient service.
- Required software knowledge: ConnectCarolina, InfoPorte, Concur (Travel & Expense), Works (PCard), and PaymentWorks preferred.
- Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or equivalency plus one year of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with ability to work independently and in teams.
- Salary range: $45,751 - $52,613 annually.
- The position reports to the Senior Accountant and supports multiple academic departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.
