We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team. This role goes beyond traditional AR responsibilities and will play a critical role in supporting student loan processing, managing student payment records, and maintaining accurate financial and enrollment data. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer service mindset, technical accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities
Core Accounts Receivable Duties:
  • Process and post incoming payments via various channels (ACH, credit card, check, wire, etc.)
  • Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts to reduce DSO
  • Respond to student and customer inquiries in a timely, professional manner
  • Maintain accurate AR records and assist with month-end close processes

Expanded Responsibilities:
  • Student Loan Certification & Support: Coordinate with third-party student lenders to certify student loans and ensure timely disbursement and reconciliation of loan funds
  • Payment Data Accuracy & System Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Enrollment, Student Services, Tech, etc.) to generate and maintain accurate student payment and enrollment data in our internal system of record
    Apply student payments to appropriate accounts and reconcile data between financial systems and enrollment platforms
  • Chargeback Monitoring & Dispute Resolution: Monitor credit card chargebacks, investigate disputes, and submit timely evidence/documentation to recover funds

Experience/ Skills Required
  • 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Billing, or a related finance role
  • Proficiency with Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with payment processors and chargeback resolution processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:
  • Experience working in an education or student services environment
  • Prior experience working with third-party student lenders (e.g., Climb, Ascent, Sallie Mae)
  • Experience with CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite)
