Overview:
Provide academic leadership for the growth and development of academic programs in nursing and nursing assistant programs. Responsible for the hiring, supervision and evaluation of all faculty teaching in department programs. Supervise the department staff and manage the department’s course schedules, enrollments, budgets, facilities and equipment. Responsible for the ongoing College processes of student learning assessment, program evaluation, program review and continuous quality improvement for all department programs. Build community relationships and partnerships to support and enhance the success and effectiveness of department programs.

Leadership of nursing and nursing assistant programs, which include:
- Maintaining College quality standards and practices related to academic course offering sequence, program pathways, advising and graduation requirements.
- Leading accreditation activities for the Associate of Nursing Program.
- Developing new programs to meet the workforce needs of district employers and communities.
- Convening program Advisory Committee meetings to ensure programs are meeting business and industry needs. Incorporating Advisory Commttee feedback into program operation and improvement.
- Facilitating program-to-program articulation agreements with baccalaureate transfer partner institutions.
- Overseeing dual credit agreements with school districts in coordination with BTC Student Services, ensuring compliance with all HLC and College policies and procedures to provide high quality dual credit offerings (transcripted and advanced standing).
Teach courses in the Chair’s professional area of qualification (up to 50% of assigned workload). These duties include:
- Teaching responsibilities as described in the Instructor Position Description.
- Ensuring continuous improvement and revision of courses taught based on the results of student learning outcomes assessment.
Foster a commitment to inclusive excellence among faculty, staff and students in the delivery of the nursing and nursing assistant programs. These duties include leading regular department meetings as needed to foster open communication and developing and maintaining a climate of collegiality and teamwork within the department faculty and staff.
Administer department programs, enrollments, budgets, facilities, equipment and business processes. These duties include:
Programs
- Ensuring that all nursing program course syllabi remain current and align with program outcomes, WTCS curriculum guidelines, transfer agreements and HLC accreditation criteria.
- Overseeing core curricula of the AAS Nursing Program to ensure compatibility with the WTCS Nursing Curriculum and College curriculum requirements, as well as meeting accreditation guidelines and industry needs.
- Coordinating and maintaining clinical schedules and records. Facilitating assessment of community health care agencies for utilization as clinical sites and maintaining agreements with these health care agencies.
- Assisting in the coordination of the petitioning process into the Nursing Program.
- Preparing reports, certifying graduates, seeking approvals and otherwise maintaining appropriate relationships and memberships with the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
- Coordinating annual student learning assessment plans, data collection, analysis and reporting for the nursing programs.
- Conducting annual program evaluations of nursing and nursing assistant program performance using College key performance indicators.
- Facilitating periodic program reviews (5-year cycle) to support continuous improvement of nursing and nursing assistant program effectiveness and efficiency.
Enrollment Management
- Coordinating program coherence, consistency and sequencing of nurisng course offerings to maximize student learning and success.
- Supervising the scheduling process in the CLSS scheduling management system for all nursing courses, including verification of the accuracy of the published course schedule.
- Utilizing enrollment data to optimize course offerings based on actual enrollments.
- Promoting evidence-based flexible education strategies that increase student success in the nursing programs.
- Maximizing nursing faculty resources utilizing innovative scheduling strategies.
Budget
- Managing department expenditures and reconciling monthly transaction reports during the fiscal year to ensure budget execution in accordance with the approved department budget.
- Developing and prioritizing the annual operating and capital budget proposal for the department in accordance with the College budget planning and approval process.
- Preparing budget proposals for one-time and new initiatives (including grants).
- Advocating for budget resources to address department priorities.
Facilities, Equipment and Business processes
- Managing department classroom facilities, supply inventories and preventative maintenance for lab equipment.
- Managing department business workflows for initiation and approval of payroll, travel, facilities/IT work orders and purchasing requests in accordance with College policies, procedures and processes.
Supervision of department faculty and staff. These duties include:
- Reviewing and approving all department full-time and part-time faculty teaching and service assignments to ensure equitable workloads.
- Managing the department’s recruitment, hiring, onboarding and mentoring processes for all full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
- Conducting annual evaluations for all department faculty (full-time and part-time) and staff.
- Communicating regularly with all department faculty (full-time and part-time) regarding instructional responsibilities to include Starfish progress surveys, SmartEvals end-of-course student surveys, final course grades and student learning outcomes assessment reports.
- Approving and coordinating substitute instructors and other temporary staff as necessary.
Oversight of student support activities in the department. These duties include:
- Collaborating with Student Services to communicate with prospective nursing and nursing assistant students for recruiting and program promotion.
- Collaborating with Student Services to facilitate the admission, registration and academic advising of nursing and nursing assistant students.
- Collaborating with Student Services to evaluate the credits and placement of transfer-in students.
- Collaborating with Student Services to enhance communication with area high schools and provide dual credit courses in area high schools.
- Collaborating with the Access and Accommodations Coordinator to provide student accommodations as needed.
- Advising and assisting students and faculty with complaints, concerns and problem resolution.
- Managing the Nancy B. Parker Scholarship program.
Collaborate with other BTC and WTCS administrators, faculty and staff to achieve College goals. These duties include:
- Building community relations for nursing programs, to include high school visits, industry and agency visits and participation in College community engagement events.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with community and business/industry partners to identify and meet training needs.
- Participating in WTCS program meetings and professional development activities.

- Knowledgeable and experienced in the process of ACEN accreditation.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Teaching experience in Nursing. Must meet qualification for Instructional Position as outlined within the Faculty Qualifications Document.
- Experience in Nursing curriculum management, program assessment, advising and transfer agreements.
- Experience in program administration/management at the faculty chair level or higher.
- Supervisory/leadership experience.
- Wisconsin RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
