Key Responsibilities:
Build Strong, Supportive Advising Relationships
  • Develop intentional, student-centered connections with assigned advisees.
  • Provide consistent, proactive guidance focused on academic, career, and personal development.
  • Model effective problem-solving strategies and promote civil, respectful communication.
  • Serve as a first point of support for student conduct and behavioral concerns.
Promote Student Success and Retention
  • Monitor academic progress and provide targeted intervention for at-risk students.
  • Support students on Academic Alert, Probation, and Suspension plans.
  • Plan, implement, and assess retention-focused programming and success initiatives.
  • Help students understand and navigate institutional, state, and federal policies.
Facilitate Academic and Career Planning
  • Guide students in creating academic plans aligned with career goals.
  • Use assessments and tools to support career exploration and decision-making.
  • Critique resumes and connect students with career development resources and opportunities.
  • Organize and present workshops on academic planning and career readiness.
Collaborate and Communicate Across Campus
  • Work closely with faculty, administration, and student service teams to support holistic student success.
  • Participate in college-wide initiatives, community-building events, and department planning efforts.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of advising practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Uphold the NACADA core values and represent CWI positively in all interactions.

What We're Looking For:
• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience. Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline preferred
• Strong technical abilities: database systems, presentation software, Microsoft Office suites, or equivalent
• Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary
• Strong public speaking skills and ability to represent the college positively to diverse populations
• Strong event planning/coordination skills
• Ability to interpret, follow, and administer academic and administrative policy
• Ability to travel between various locations throughout the day
• 2-3 years of experience college/university advising, career counseling, admission, registrar, or financial aid office, or goal-oriented client/customer service work preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

**Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
