How will you make an impact in this role?
American Express’ Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) organization implements and supports the enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, and Anti-Corruption compliance programs, among other anti-financial crime deliverables. Within GFCC, the Training, Policies, and Standards (TPS) team is tasked with, among other things, a key objective of providing GFCC and other colleagues with adequate anti-financial crimes training to successfully address financial crime risks while carrying out day-to-day responsibilities. More specifically, TPS collaborates on, develops, manages, hosts, and delivers a wide variety of trainings across the anti-financial crime spectrum and throughout the pillars of the GFCC program, and aligns with key GFCC, other second line of defense, first line of defense, and other stakeholders on training-related proposals and impacts. Furthermore, TPS owns the GFCC Training Global Standard and will be responsible for ensuring affected teams and colleagues adhere to that Global Standard once it is released.

This role will serve as an Instructional Designer on the GFCC TPS team, supporting a variety of training design functions across GFCC, including, but not limited to, those related to TPS’s responsibilities noted above. The successful candidate will report to a Training Manager on the TPS team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Assessing and identifying appropriate interactive eLearning solutions to support financial crimes compliance content delivery, optimized for virtual and online delivery.
  • Utilizing creative skills and leveraging internal and external tools and capabilities to produce innovative multi-media solutions (modules/courses/videos), training exercises, and attestations.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing the above-mentioned content to produce measurable learning outcomes.
  • Ensuring scalability and sustainability of eLearning solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining instructional design and instructional media skills and knowledge.
  • Supporting execution of training design components of the GFCC Training Global Standard.
  • Demonstrating agility and the ability to pivot between varied content creation workflows.
  • Building strong partnerships with subject matter experts throughout discovery and design phases to develop learning solutions.
  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure projects are well scoped and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Raising awareness of training content design issues and proposing solutions to those issues.
  • Serving as a resource for GFCC colleagues and partners by supporting continued learning, providing valuable feedback, and working with various stakeholders to strategize and optimize training efficiency solutions.
  • Helping gather materials in support of audit and exam training-related requests.
  • Ensuring training deliverables adhere to legal and regulatory standards and are carried out within the GFCC TPS training framework.
  • Collaborating and aligning with TPS members on the above responsibilities and other TPS-driven tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Expertise in industry-standard eLearning development software, such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline.
  • Working knowledge of graphics and multimedia software, such as the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, etc.).
  • 3+ years of multimedia design and graphics, training and development, or adult learning experience.
  • Ability to produce high quality educational videos and eLearning modules using modern design principles.
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for learning management system (LMS) functionality.
  • Portfolio that exhibits a high standard of design and artistry.
  • Keen attention to detail, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective collaboration and communication skills, including working with multiple stakeholders on a single project.
  • Comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving and responds positively to complexity and change.
  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation, flexibility, and sense of urgency.
  • Team player with superior people skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • BA/BS degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in financial crimes compliance, general compliance, AML, sanctions, Know Your Customer processes, Anti-Bribery and Corruption processes, law enforcement, audit, and/or legal preferred.

Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually + bonus + benefits
