Primary Purpose of the Organization:  | The primary goal of the Office of Admission at Fayetteville State University is to attract and enroll a diverse student body that represents a wide range of geographic, religious, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. To do so, the Office of Admission will work closely with alumni and other constituencies to support recruitment efforts while promoting excellent customer service & transparency about the admission process.

Primary Purpose of the Position:  | The Assistant Director of Admission is the primary source of articulating information about the University to prospective students, families, and educational leaders in their designated recruitment territory. It is responsible for meeting the enrollment goal for the targeted region. The Assistant Director of Admission 1.)  Conducts programs and activities to meet enrollment goals of an area (on/off campus & virtually). Drafts original correspondence, answers e-mails, and telephones prospective students, parents, and school officials as needed to disseminate information about the University. Makes individual judgments regarding the status of an applicant’s file, renders admissions decisions; 4.) contacts accepted students to encourage them to enroll. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, and wiliness to travel on a frequent basis if necessary. This person will also assist with other duties as assigned. 

This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to make presentations before small and large groups, and the ability to set up display materials.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:  | Bachelor’s degree required. Must have the ability to render decisions based on the interpretation of program policy and procedures preferably at the collegiate level in student services. Strong communication skills, both written and oral are required. The position requires a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:  | General knowledge about higher education practices. Knowledge about university requirements, programs, and services. Must have exceptional oral and written skills to present programs to large and small public audiences and interact individually with many different audiences. Have the ability to interpret program policies and procedures to various audiences. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to meet tight deadlines, and multitasking are essential for success in this position.
