Assistant Director, Loans and Satisfactory Academic Progress

The Assistant Director of Loans and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) plays a key part in that mission, ensuring equitable access to education through the effective management of Purdue’s federal, private, and institutional loan programs.
 
As a recognized subject matter expert, you’ll lead the daily operations for loan processing and SAP functions under limited supervision, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. You’ll coordinate the annual SAP review, design and implement process improvements, and oversee the testing and validation of system changes and upgrades that maintain data accuracy and regulatory integrity. You’ll serve as the primary liaison between the Division of Financial Aid, key campus partners such as Purdue IT and the Office of the Bursar, and external agencies—building strong collaborations that support smooth financial aid delivery and exceptional service to students. You’ll also supervise a small team of professionals, fostering continuous learning and operational excellence through training, guidance, and project leadership.
 
In addition to your operational and leadership responsibilities, you’ll advise students and families, contribute to outreach events, and participate in the Division’s strategic planning efforts to enhance efficiency, compliance, and student-centered service.

This position is considered a hybrid position where you will be on the West Lafayette campus most of the time and have the opportunity to work some remotely.
 
What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in an administrative setting preferred
  • equivalent experience.
 
Preferred:
  • Experience in financial aid, higher education, and supervisory roles is highly desirable
 
Skills Needed:
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage orally and via email with wide-ranging groups including students, parents, and colleagues
  • Proficient technological skills, including familiarity with software applications and Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent analytical abilities, keen attention to detail, and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment
