Job Summary
The Assistant Director is responsible for administering the process for top students and alumni to pursue nationally competitive awards, providing clear direction and guidance for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent alumni. The emphasis is on the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and undergraduate awards NISO coordinates (Goldwater, Astronaut, Truman, Udall, etc.).

This is a hybrid position, but candidates must live within reasonable driving distance to the West Lafayette campus.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Four (4) years’ experience advising and/or conducting outreach to students either within higher education or as part of a fellowship foundation.
 
Skills: 
  • Exemplary writing skills, excellent oral communication skills for providing writing feedback 
  • MSWord, MSExcel
  • Ability to present information clearly and enthusiastically to diverse groups of students
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and equitable program
  • Outstanding social skills with the ability to form cordial and positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative by showing leadership in areas of responsibility
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Must be available to occasionally work evenings or weekends for programming

NISO, which is a part of the John Martinson Honors College, is here for all Purdue students. We coordinate the application, campus evaluation, and nomination processes from helping students learn about the scholarships, fellowships, and grants to submitting nominations to the granting foundations and programs.
