Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Student Identity & Engagement, LGBTQ+ Resources is responsible for developing and implementing programs, resources, and engagement opportunities that support students across a wide range of identities and cultural experiences, including the LGBTQ+ community. This role fosters student leadership, belonging, and community through involvement opportunities, educational initiatives, dialogue-based programming, and collaborative partnerships.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. In collaboration with the Office of Student Identity & Engagement staff, develops LGBTQ+ and gender identity programs, services, and trainings that support student identity development, cultural awareness, and community engagement.
2. Coordinates and advises student leadership and advocacy groups focused on identity, culture, and community building, including those connected to gender and sexuality.
3. Advises student organizations connected to identity and culture, supporting their leadership development and programming efforts.
4. Recruits, trains, and facilitates educational workshops and dialogue-based trainings that promote awareness, communication, and engagement across diverse student experiences.
5. Collaborates with campus partners to strategically identify opportunities to enhance student success, belonging, and engagement across the student population, including students with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.
6. Prepares budgets and monitors department expenses, submits bills and invoices for processing, tracks and reconciles expenditures.
7. Maintains assessment databases by collecting information about programs, attendance or other items of interest through surveys, evaluations and assessments, completes Anthology and annual reports, and provides reports to management as requested.
8. Serves on cross-department committees and supports programming efforts that align with department goals.
9. Supervises, hires, and trains student leaders and one graduate student
10. Partners with campus stakeholders to identify and respond to evolving student needs related to identity, culture, and engagement.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Master's degree required in related field (preferably higher education, women/gender studies, or counseling).
• 2 years of progressive responsibility in higher education.
• Experience working with, supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ students
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Experience developing and facilitating student trainings and workshops related to sexual orientation and gender identity.
• Experience with community engagement, student leadership development, and advocacy-based programming.
• Bilingual.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• Safe Zone or similar training.
• Certification in women/gender studies.

• Skills in supervision, program development, and mentoring student leaders.
• Skills in fostering environments that support belonging and student engagement.
• Skill in strong oral and written communication.
• Ability to engage topics related to identity development, including cultural, social, gender, and sexuality-based experiences.
• Ability to facilitate conversations, trainings, and workshops.
• Skills in use of computers/information technology understanding.
• Ability to provide strong leadership, excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to analyze data and assess program effectiveness.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across campus

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

• This is an on campus, in-person position.
