Job Summary/Basic Function
To Assist the Director of TRiO Programs with the operation of the TRiO Student Support Services Program.

Position is grant-funded and continuation is contingent upon ongoing funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field (years of experience may substitute)
  • Minimum one year of prior professional experience in admissions and record of supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel, including evening and overnight events
  • Experience with Banner Student Information System (SIS) and TargetX CRM (Salesforce) or similar SIS or CRM
  • Excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Coaching and teambuilding experience to help motivate students.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparing data reports.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duties
  • Implement TRIO/SSS objectives and guidelines, pertaining to academic performance, retention and graduation.
  • Provide direct services to TRIO participants related to academic advising/planning, registration, and orientation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided to students while maintaining the appropriate level of confidentiality.
  • Assists the Director of TRIO Programs with the preparing the Annual Progress Report (APR) for submission to the U. S. Department of Education’s reporting system.
  • Monitor the academic progress of program participants by considering instructor and tutor input and maintaining contact with program participants.
  • Assist program participants in the exploration of career options.
  • Participates in identifying and selecting students for participation in the TRIO/SSS program.
  • Administers diagnostic tools and examines data to determine individual service needs.
  • Provides assistance to TRIO SSS students in the area of financial aid/literacy issues.
  • Coordinate and administer specialized workshops for student participants.
  • Provides assistance to SSS students in developing an Individualized Success Plan.
  • Process faculty Early Alerts with participants, advise and report as necessary.
  • Direct students to appropriate resources in the University and community.
  • Acts as a liaison between the student, faculty advisor, staff, administration and other campus departments.
  • Maintains a caseload of up to 85 SSS participants.
  • Supervises all program graduate assistants, tutors, internship students and peer educators.
  • Assists the Director of TRIO Programs with the implementation of the Summer Academy.
  • Promotes positive institutional climate by serving on campus committees as requested.
  • Teaches the FYEX 102 TRIO course each year.
  • Provides leadership of the SSS program in the absence of the Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the TRIO/SSS Director.
  • Supervises the ambassador program coordinator and supervises the administration of the ambassador program.
  • Other duties as assigned
