Description | Reporting to the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations as well as the Manager of the LHSC Equipment Room, the Assistant Manager is actively involved in supporting training for, and supervision and management of, the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication (LHSC)’s extensive film and video studios, control rooms, and field equipment.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: In collaboration with LHSC’s facilities, engineering, and equipment staff, creates accessible and informative non-curricular training materials. Leads non-curricular student training sessions to encourage best practices for the use of LHSC facilities and equipment. Fosters an inclusive, supportive, pre-professional environment in which students without prior technical experience can gain expertise, experience, and confidence in the use of production equipment and facilities. Provides in-class support to LHSC faculty as requested, including during studio and field class sessions and during major productions. This support may include assisting with pre-class studio, control room, and equipment set-ups, and post-class teardowns. Provides pre-production advice and guidance for students embarking on major projects. Provides on-site support to student-led productions and shooting sessions in LHSC studios, including regularly scheduled HEAT (Hofstra Entertainment Access Television) programs as well as special projects. Maintains industry-current expertise on studios and equipment, including new software and hardware introduced periodically to the LHSC. Works collaboratively with the LHSC Facilities team, Equipment Room staff, and Media Engineering team to foster best practices and procedures. Always prioritizes the safe and correct operation of LHSC studios and equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in TV/Film production or a related field required. At least two years of experience in a professional setting. Proficiency in live multi-camera production in studio settings and single-camera fieldwork. Familiarity with production technology, including Ross switchers, graphics systems and servers, digital audio systems, intercom systems, studio lighting, and field cameras such as the Arri Alexa, Sony FX-3, or comparable equipment. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate studio and field production cycles.

Salary/Salary Range | $70,000 - $75,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
