Position Overview | The Assistant University Sustainability Director (AUSD) supports the University of Idaho Sustainability Director in the advancement of strategies, initiatives, and goals related to environmental sustainability at the University of Idaho. The AUSD will aid in the development, implementation, and tracking of programs that advance the university’s sustainability goals. This position is responsible for establishing communication and data collection between university entities to assist with the completion of an annual STARS report, The Carnegie Elective Classification for Sustainability, the annual greenhouse gas inventory, the Water Conservation and Management Plan, Tree Campus certification, as well as other sustainability projects as assigned by the Director. This position reports to the University of Idaho Sustainability Director.
Duties may include: Assist with development and implementation of campus sustainability programs and initiatives Collect, verify, and organize data for sustainability reporting and accreditation Support preparation of annual STARS and greenhouse gas inventory reports Contribute to Carnegie Classification and Tree Campus certification efforts Coordinate communication with campus partners and promote sustainability initiatives Provide support on additional projects assigned by the Sustainability Director Other duties as assigned

Required Experience | Four years managing sustainability projects or initiatives Tracking and reporting for the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS) program Tracking and reporting for the Carnegie Elective Classification for Sustainability Using SIMAP to conduct greenhouse gas inventories
Required Education | PhD in sustainability, environmental science, or related field.

Additional Preferred | Knowledge of: The University of Idaho’s current sustainability practices and goals Environmental sustainability Ability to: Implement initiatives to promote behavioral change related to sustainability Maintain good working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community partners Experience: Utilizing spreadsheet and database programs, website design, and social media applications Communicating clearly in writing and via public presentations Managing multiple projects at once Working with a university facilities department
