Job Summary  | The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for supporting the mission of the Center at a campus and community level. While contributing collaboratively and independently to both arms of the Center, the AD is responsible for leading the strategic planning for the research arm of the center while ensuring harmony with the overall mission.

Responsibilities  | Collaborate with the Director to support the development of professional and student staff, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and retention efforts.  Work with the Director to support the strategic plan of the Center and lead research planning. This includes supporting research associates, postdoctoral students, and staff to support the overall mission of the Center  Build relationships across the University of Utah to support the mission of the Center and expand relationships at communities across the nation to support preventing sexual violence.  Communicate progress of the Center’s initiatives to key stakeholders, including university administrators and donors.  Communicate research to MCVP staff and board to ensure mission success to bridge the gap between research and education.  Contribute to the financial stability of the departments’ budget- fundraising, budgetary requirements for special projects, and support Office Support Coordinator with budget management.  Performs functions of the department director in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s Degree in related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience.) Six years of experience working in higher education.  Demonstrate understanding of issues of prevention and ending sexual violence on college campus. This includes a deep understanding of how power and oppression contributes to relationship and sexual violence among college students.  Experience initiating, leading, and directing strategic planning for projects with minimal supervision.  Previous experience managing research or overseeing project management.  Expertise in professional development strategies, as well as recruitment and retention of staff.

Preferences  | Knowledge and understanding of college students, campus environments and organizations, and university politics and structures.  Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
