Springer Publishing Company seeks a results-oriented content development professional with at least 2 years’ experience, strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills; content/technical know-how; and effective communication skills. This individual will demonstrate an understanding of print and digital publishing processes, an eye for detail, and experience with the development of various content sets (e.g., textbooks/referential content, assessment items, instructor/student ancillaries).
Job Purpose:
The Associate Content Development Editor will closely collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop content that effectively addresses customer and market needs. The successful candidate will help take products from concept to launch, analyzing and editing content; managing authors, editors, and reviewers; tracking project milestones and budgets; and delivering high-quality and complete materials for production and publication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as content development editor and project manager for concurrent digital/print projects at various stages, establishing clear timelines and expectations for stakeholders.
- Provide author/editor support throughout project, demonstrating strong customer service skills and professionalism in all communication.
- Provide informed intervention on content to improve its utility, quality, and completeness by analyzing and enhancing submitted materials, applying established standards, ensuring template/guideline adherence, and leveraging input from authors and reviewers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate accounting of project status and content elements to ensure alignment to strategy and adherence to budget.
- Provide regular reporting to stakeholders, identifying risks, shortfalls, and opportunities for acceleration and improvement.
- Modify communication and project management strategies as needed to steer projects toward the clearest path to completion.
- Work cooperatively within team and across organization, collaborating effectively to adhere to defined project plans.
- Travel to corporate office and external meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in content coordination, development or related editorial, ideally in nursing, medicine, or other health professions
- Knowledge of digital and print publishing processes and functions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines and objectives
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on consistency, clarity, and completeness
- Ability to collaborate with external and internal stakeholders across departments and functions
- Demonstrated critical-thinking, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills
- Unwavering drive for results, can-do attitude, and proactive approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to work within content management systems and desktop applications
Work Environment / Travel Requirements
- This is a remote role, with occasional travel to corporate headquarters in Princeton, NJ as required.
- Travel to approximately 2 to 3 conferences or external meetings per year is expected.
