The College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Access and Community Engagement (ACE). This dynamic role is central to our commitment to creating an enriching and supportive space for students, faculty, and staff.
As the Associate Dean, you will work closely with the Offices of the Dean, Academics, and Research to cultivate a supportive and enriching academic environment where employees and students can thrive. The Associate Dean is responsible for translating data collection into actionable strategies that improve student and employee access, engagement and inclusive excellence. This is a 50% administrative appointment. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a strategic vision to enhance access and engagement for college of nursing students and employees, aligning with the College’s mission to prepare graduates who care, inspire and lead to advance science, practice, and policy to optimize health for all. Establish and maintain databases to track student and employee access, engagement, and inclusive excellence. Lead the development and execution of targeted initiatives that directly address factors influencing student and employee access, engagement, and inclusive excellence. Assess and refine engagement strategies by regularly evaluating outcomes, adjusting approaches as needed, and ensuring continuous improvement. Oversee and assess the Program for Academic Support Services (PASS) to ensure comprehensive academic support for all CON students. Provide oversight, manage logistics, and lead the process for student petitions related to academic progression. Support operations of Carolina Cares Cupboard. Serve as a liaison to the ACE Student Advisory Board and ACE Employee Advisory Board. Disseminate findings and best practices through scholarly publications and presentations to contribute to broader knowledge and improvement in access and engagement in nursing academic environments. Actively engage with the Council of Academic Inclusive Excellence Officers and other university-wide initiatives supporting student, faculty, and staff access and engagement. Serve as a key member of the Dean’s senior leadership team, collaborating with university officials, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners. Serve as ex-officio on Admissions and Progression council and Curriculum council. Recruitment for this position is in the Tenured Track or Professional Track. Required Education and Experience | Doctorate degree, with a minimum of a master’s in nursing. Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education, preferably academic nursing, with a focus on student, faculty, and staff access and engagement. Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that enhance student and employee access and engagement. Strong data analysis skills, with experience in using metrics to drive decision-making and assess program effectiveness. History of program development and evaluation. Commitment to fostering a supportive and welcoming environment for employees and students. Experience in relationship-building and engagement to support institutional goals.
