Job Description This role provides leadership for the delivery of all technical services within Advancement and External Affairs, supporting 200 divisional staff. This position has direct supervisory responsibility for technical services staff, including Computer Consultant positions and/or student workers including hiring, performance management, professional development, and day-to-day guidance. In addition to leading end-user support operations, the position oversees the division’s hardware lifecycle program, encompassing procurement, build, deployment, and replacement planning for all endpoints and mobile devices, as well as the enterprise server and infrastructure environment, including on-premises server administration, and cloud-based infrastructure solutions. The role serves as the senior escalation point for complex technical challenges, manages AEA’s Active Directory, Tableau Server, and Windows Server environments, and leads divisional technology projects requiring cross-functional coordination. This position has significant independence, exercising professional judgment in planning and implementing systems and processes that directly affect the productivity and security posture of the entire division.

Education and Experience | A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in information technology, with demonstrated progression of responsibility Relevant professional certifications a plus (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, VMware) Extensive and up-to-date technical knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, Windows and Mac environments, networks, server administration, enterprise storage, and cloud-based infrastructure Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience, including performance management and professional development of direct reports 1-2 years working with a ticketing system such as Jira or equivalent required; development experience within Jira cloud is a plus Experience managing or implementing a CRM platform is required A valid driver’s license is required.
Skills and Knowledge | Experience administering and maintaining on-premises and cloud-based server infrastructure, including Windows Server and Active Directory environments 1-2 years managing Tableau Server accounts, dashboard access, and data ownership Experience implementing and maintaining security policies across server, endpoint, and user account environments, including PowerShell scripting for automation 1-2 years of experience implementing PCI-compliant systems including check scanning, credit card processing, and scanning services 1-2 years of experience supporting hybrid events using Teams, Zoom, or comparable platforms Demonstrated experience leading small to mid-size technology training or implementation initiatives Experience evaluating and implementing cloud resources from Microsoft and other platforms Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, and comparable environments, especially as related to end-user access, development, and security Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences Proven ability to lead and develop technical staff.
Responsibilities Staff and Team Management: Directly supervise and evaluate technical services staff positions and/or student workers, including conducting performance reviews, providing ongoing professional development guidance, and assigning and monitoring day-to-day work. Establish priorities, set quality standards, and ensure consistent service delivery across the team. Serve as a resource and escalation point for the team on complex or ambiguous technical challenges, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented work culture. Enterprise Infrastructure and Server Administration: Administer and maintain AEA’s on-premises and cloud-based server infrastructure, including Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Tableau Server (Data Insights). Evaluate, recommend, and implement architectural improvements to server and infrastructure systems in alignment with University’s OneIT standards, security requirements, and AEA operational needs. Ensure system uptime and availability consistent with divisional service level expectations. Hardware Lifecycle and Endpoint Management: Create and maintain hardware allocation assignments, inventories, and replacement cycles consistent with budget allocations. Oversee procurement, build, and deployment of all IT equipment including Windows desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Evaluate emerging hardware technologies and recommend acquisition and implementation as appropriate. Implement and enforce University hardware security protocols to ensure current and future functionality across all endpoints. End User Support Oversight: Evaluate, triage, assign, and escalate end-user support requests to ensure all AEA staff, student workers, and senior leadership have timely resolutions to technology challenges. Oversee the Orange Tracker ticketing platform, ensuring full documentation of responses and appropriate use of platform tools including forms, templates, and the user portal. Identify patterns in support requests and develop staff training and process improvements to reduce recurring issues and improve overall uptime and user experience. Project and Technology Initiative Leadership: Lead project management for divisional initiatives requiring new technology implementation, infrastructure upgrades, event support, and division-wide training. Collaborate with interdepartmental team leaders and University IT partners to ensure proper planning, execution, and documentation of technology projects. Develop and manage effective working relationships with AEA departments, University IT, and external vendors to coordinate implementation and ongoing support of technical solutions.
