  • This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employees are required to occasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes.

About the Team  
AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from both secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP Instructional Services team provides support for teachers through AP Summer Institutes, workshops, small group sessions and the AP Project Based Learning Series. Through this work, we engage with over 40,000 teachers each year.  
  
About the Opportunity   
As a member of the Advanced Placement Instructional Services team, the Associate Director will manage the day-to-day operations for consultants, Online Teacher Community (OTC) moderators, reviewers, focused on high quality and efficient delivery of the AP Professional Learning, OTC and Course Audit annual cycles. The Associate Director will manage reviewer, OTC moderator, and workshop consultant recruitment, training, and performance as well as the development of teacher and reviewer resources to support course document submission and review processes required for AP course authorization. The Associate Director will also manage the execution of learning events by assigning consultants, monitoring event evaluations, and conducting required follow-up to address both performance and operational issues. The Associate Director will manage all consultant and reviewer communications, including the online communities, and will serve as the liaison between internal subject-matter experts and consultants in their respective disciplines. In addition, the Associate Director will execute protocols for ongoing process evaluation and make recommendations to senior leadership to improve the quality of support and resources for participating teachers, administrators, and reviewers.  
 
In this role, you will:  
 
Manage AP Professional Learning Consultants and OTC Moderators (40%)  
 
  • Conduct an annual review of consultant endorsement status and notify consultants and mentors of any changes  
  • Evaluate consultant capacity for discipline-specific professional learning events annually, make recommendations for recruitment to maintain a balanced pool of active AP teachers and higher ed professionals to further diversify the consultant pool  
  • Assign consultants for AP professional learning events in specified discipline(s), ensuring consultants have current materials and information required for the assigned event  
  • Manage the discipline-specific Online Teacher Community moderators, Consultant Community and consultant resources by ensuring timely, relevant information is posted and available 
  • Manage subject-specific online updates and training and attend in-person training for consultants in specified discipline(s) 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with consultants in specified discipline(s) 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with Curriculum and Instruction staff 
  • Send consultant communications in specified discipline(s) on a set academic schedule aligned with other consultants 
  • Facilitate discussion between internal and external subject matter experts to ensure understanding of established processes 
  • Monitor assigned subject specific Online Teacher Communities to escalate any teacher inquiries and concerns related to the AP Course Audit and Professional Learning to appropriate colleagues 
  • Respond to and resolve escalated questions and issues in a timely manner  
 
Provide Ongoing Support to AP Professional Learning Activities (40%)  
 
  • Create the AP Online Workshops and AP Teacher Support events schedule for the school year and create the events in Cvent along with accompanying resources  
  • Manage the module development process for all AP course workshops through working with the AP teachers developing the scripts and the AP product management team who will create the final product  
  • Prepare AP Online Workshops modules in the AP Professional Learning Platform and create and update accompanying resources as needed  
  • Follow the process documents provided to manage the AP Online Workshop participation process to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Maintain the AP Professional Learning dashboard with registration and participation data for AP Online workshops and AP Teacher Support sessions  
  • Engage in ongoing support and needs that arise for the team.  
 
Manage AP Course Audit& Review (20%)  
 
  • Manage assigned AP Subject(s) Course Audit Reviewers. Tasks include monitoring reviewer alignment, answering questions from reviewers, providing decisions on discrepant syllabus review outcomes, and assisting AP teachers during the syllabus review process, as needed 
  • Periodically review and recommend updates to web content as well as educator and reviewer resources to support syllabus development, submission, and review  
  • Synthesize and provide data related to course document review, reviewer management, and reviewer performance to internal and external stakeholders as needed  
  • Convene and facilitate teams of internal and external subject matter experts in the creation of teacher, reviewer and workshop resources to support AP course documentation development, review, and approval  
  • Provide direct support via email and phone to individual educators who require additional assistance with syllabus development and submission  
  • Inform and periodically review the informational content available to constituents through various communication channels including course audit websites, email boxes, FAQs, program emails, and client support scripts to ensure accuracy.  
 
About You  
Exceptional candidates can speak effectively to:  
  • Proficiency with Cvent (event planning, registration, and reporting) 
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce for consultant and data management 
  • Knowledge of the AP program, particularly English and Capstone courses.  
  • Proven ability to oversee and coordinate the work of a large group of consultants, fostering collaboration and active participation. 
  • The ability to travel 4-5 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business.
