The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Center Director, the Associate Director of the W. Edwards Deming Center for Quality, Productivity, and Competitiveness will manage a broad portfolio of initiatives, including partnerships with industry, doctoral fellowships, Deming Center study tours, entrepreneurship programs, interdisciplinary forums and conferences, as well as new and emerging programs. Established in 1990, the Deming Center promotes operational excellence in business through research, best practices, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities
Program Administration & Events Management
- Doctoral Fellowships
Coordinates the administration of the doctoral fellowship program: including managing the call for proposals, supporting the internal review process with academic divisions, assisting in organizing the decision-making process, and processing fellowship disbursements. - Deming Center Study Tours
Supports the planning and logistics of the biannual study tours for faculty, students, and Deming Center Advisory Board members, including coordinating visiting company sites affiliated with or aligned with the Center’s mission. - Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness Programs
Assists the Center’s Director in the execution of the EC Programs (ECLA and EC Africa), including processing participants’ applications and payments, organizing the logistics of all in-person and online modules, and maintaining the Canvas page updated. - Deming Conferences and Forums
Provides logistical and administrative support for the Center’s events, including the Deming Cup Winner Lectures and the Deming Speaker Series. - Industry Collaboration
Acts as a point of contact for the Center’s partnerships with industry stakeholders.
Operations & Administration
- Payments and reimbursements
- Provides administrative and financial support for the Deming Center including creation of purchase orders for vendors, overseeing payments, obtaining all authorizations needed, overseeing the pledge invoicing and donation collection, etc.
- In collaboration with the Managing Director and team, monitors the monthly budget and financial reconciliations.
- Processes, track payments and expense reimbursements for faculty, staff, and students, including preparation of expense reports, and invoices.
- Contacts Database
- Provide oversight of the center’s CRM; responsible for maintenance, any/all migration requirements, and regular updates. Manages and maintains contacts in database on an ongoing basis.
- Communications
- Support the development and implementation of the comprehensive annual communications and outreach strategy. Serve as a liaison with the MarComm and External Relations teams to ensure timely, effective promotion of the Center’s mission, programs, and impact. Oversee management of the Center’s website and social media presence.
General Operations
- Works on additional projects as assigned and shares in the responsibilities of other staff members as a flexible team player at the direction of the Managing Director and Faculty Co-Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong computer proficiency
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Demonstrated decision-making ability and comfort with managing multiple priorities.
