Associate Leadership Institute Learning & Development Specialist

MISSION

JOB SUMMARY
The Associate LI Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for developing and modifying computer-based instructional content and providing support for online learning in alignment with departmental and institutional learning and development objectives.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong experience in instructional design, content creation, and adult learning theory. Familiarity with industry standards, experience working with learning management systems, the Adobe creative suite, and reporting are preferred.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Content development
Creates graphics and multimedia objects for online educational content. Develops and tests original content to ensure conformity to professional standards and technical integration with the Education Center platform.

Develop test scripts
Develops test scripts and tests third-party content as necessary to ensure smooth integration and consistent performance for users.

Instructional Design
Interprets instructional design documents and flowcharts and generates storyboards and prototypes from general specifications. Coordinates information and resources for institutional content developers.

Training documentation
Develops documentation, operating instructions, job aids, and performance support tools for both online and instructor-led learning and development opportunities.

System support
Responds to technical support team requests for user identified system issues; monitors data integrity and system use. Provides timely assistance to institutional users on optimal LMS use and learning activities; sets up curricula, certifications and system role assignments as required and appropriate for institutional users. Assists users with questions regarding accessing content, training records, and reporting requirements.

Adult learning theory
Applies adult learning theory and other relevant guidelines (web design guidelines, usability guidelines, institutional graphic standards, etc.) to ensure quality and consistency with other departmental materials and MD Anderson brand message.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Design, Graphic Design, or related field.

Preferred: Certification in Web Design, Graphics Design or Instructional Design

Experience Required: Two years of experience creating web-based content. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Experience Preferred: Experience with Articulate Storyline, Captivate, WordPress, Taleo Learning Management System

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
