| Primary Purpose of Position | Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Dean of Students serves as the Vice Chancellor’s chief advisor and senior liaison to campus community partners regarding student conduct, support and safety matters and leader for the Student Support and Advocacy strategic area for the division. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Studentswill lead the Office of the Dean of Students team and provide secondary supervision for the Office of Housing and Residence Life to ensure integration and alignment of student conduct, support and safety operations. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students will also serve as the deputy Chief Student Affairs Officer for the division, providing leadership for division operations, working closely with Senior Leadership Team partners and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in the overall administration of the Division of Student Affairs enterprise comprised of a community of approximately 500 professional and student employees who steward fiscal resources of $90 million and approximately 1,000,000 square feet in facilities to support student success. |

| Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Office of the Dean of Students is comprised of coordinated, integrated services that help students thrive as a member of a community and navigate challenges to succeed academically, personally, and socially. The Office of the Dean of Students includes the following service units: Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution; Student Support and Case Management (Aggie C.A.R.E., threat assessment, behavioral intervention, and case management services) Off-Campus Living and Community Partnerships, and Parent and Family Partnerships. |
| Minimum Requirements | · Doctorate in higher education, student affairs or a related field and minimum of ten years of progressive leadership and supervision experience in a post-secondary setting. · Excellent ability to cultivate strong relationships with students and families. · Extensive experience in student conduct administration, threat assessment, and crisis management operations. · Strong background in policy development and compliance and knowledge of local, state and federal laws and proceedings related to college students (e.g. U.S. Constitution, Title IX, Title VI, etc.). · Previous experience with technology-based student conduct and case management record systems (i.e. Maxient). · Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, political acumen, and discernment during challenging circumstances. · Evidence of strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to cultivate strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders. · Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. · Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic objectives, motivate, and develop staff, effectively. |
| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education | · Prior experience serving in a Dean of Students Office or comparable context, managing crisis, threat assessment and behavioral intervention strongly preferred. · Strong background in student conflict mediation education and programming. · Prior leadership experience at a large public, R1 university setting.
· Demonstrated success at public institutions with a comparable mission. |
