Job Description 
New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties: Manage the entire hiring process from job posting to offer acceptance. Administer and maintain employee benefits programs, including group health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending accounts, and retirement benefits. Process enrollments, changes, termination and qualified life events. Serve as the primary contact for employee questions about benefits. Deliver benefit orientation for new hires. Coordinate open enrollment. Provide retirement counseling to prospective retirees and benefits assistance to current retirees. Maintain employee benefits systems and ensure accurate communication of benefit changes to payroll for proper deductions. Assist the HR Manager with benefits-related reporting, reconciliations, and compliance documentation. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications  | Evidence of well-developed skills in: Organization and management of routine daily responsibilities Oral and written communication Problem solving with ability to take independent action within procedural guidelines  Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency in use of technology such as Microsoft Excel. Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to follow up effectively.
