Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Under the supervision of the Finance and HR Director, the Business Coordinator manages and coordinates financial and administrative operations for the South Carolina Honors College. This role oversees vendor payments, reimbursements, travel processing, supplier registration, and purchasing card reconciliation while ensuring compliance with university and state policies. The Business Coordinator serves as a key resource to faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus partners by providing accurate financial processing, maintaining fiscal accountability, and delivering exceptional customer service in support of the college’s mission.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials |
Preferred Qualifications | Extensive knowledge of MS Office with particular emphasis on Excel. Some knowledge of USC policies, procedures, and programs is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | The position requires the ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions – database/spreadsheet, extensive knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on Access and Excel, account and budgeting principles including USC platforms, general office equipment operations. Strong general clerical, computer, and technical skills, customer-service orientation, and the ability to work independently with confidentiality, professional judgment and discretion. The ability to analyze and interpret informationaccurately, take direction, initiate action, and work as a team member is essential. Knowledge of grammar, composition andstyle. Ability to gather, organize and present oral and written information in a clear, concise and accurate manner.

Job Duty | Financial Operations & Vendor Management:
Under the guidance of the Finance and Human Resources Director, oversees finance actions for a subset of college accounts and projects, monitors and reconciles transactions through the USC online financial platform. Manages the SCHC Publix card checkout process and processes all associated invoices. Processes vendor invoices from Michaels, Enterprise, Verizon, and other suppliers. Serves as the primary point of contact for vendor registration in Peoplesoft and PaperSave.

For assigned areas, initiates and processes reimbursements for staff, faculty, and students. Processes vendor invoices and monitor related financial activity. Provides financial and administrative support to the Dean’s Office as needed to meet deadlines. Ensures compliance with state laws and university policies, procedures, and guidelines. Delivers responsive customer service to faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus partners.

For assigned areas, processes travel authorizations and travel reimbursements for faculty, staff and students. Assists with booking airfare and processing registration payments. Provides guidance and support to ensure timely and accurate travel reimbursements.

Serves as Office Supply Liaison for faculty, staff, and students. Provides guidance and support to ensure purchasing card guidelines are followed.
