Posting Context Statement Reporting to the SEM Business Officer, the Business Specialist II is part of the Strategic Enrollment Management Financial Services team. This position supports the division and assigned departments with financial operations and processes, organizing data into routine reports, providing cross coverage to team members, and assisting with administrative projects, while providing financial support within the division. In addition, the position provides personnel/hiring support with search processes, electronic personnel action forms, and other processes and administrative support to the assigned departments.
Position Overview Responsible for providing basic to moderately complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine financial reports. May handle cash, manage accounts receivable and/or payable transactions.
Duties may include: Purchasing identified goods and services Submitting invoices and receipts for payment Accepting and recording payments Reconciling purchasing card statements Processing travel claims and reimbursements Tracking transactions through completion in the centralized financial system Filing and maintaining unit-level finance documents Originating personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized finance system Compiling and summarizing data for routine reports Distributing financial reports Researching discrepancies Providing assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
Required Experience | One year providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures Using computer software and applications for researching and compiling financial information, preparing summaries and reports A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance may substitute for the above experience
Required Education | High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Preferred | Bachelor’s degree Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting Demonstrated knowledge of office support functions including word processing, filing and composing a variety of business documents Experience with common business software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment Demonstrated written and oral communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Experience using of the University of Idaho business systems (Banner, ARGOS, etc) Familiar with University of Idaho Policy and Procedures
