Posting Context Statement | CALS Communications leads efforts in media relations, marketing, web communications, social media and digital media for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and UI Extension. This unit is responsible for developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies to enhance and support college strategic goals through the promotion of research, teaching and extension programs.
Position Overview | This position will be responsible for managing multiple social media accounts, creating content and coordinating with relevant units in the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS). They will design marketing materials for a variety of programs and events and develop written content for a variety of communication channels. The coordinator will provide support to departmental marketing and event efforts across CALS. The coordinator will also assist in the planning of a variety of college events.
Duties may include: Assist in development of content creation for marketing materials such as promotional, media and website materials, brochures, email newsletters, social media posts, blog articles and press releases Serve as a resource for purchasing branded promotional materials Create and manage event logistics while providing on-site support Manage and update the company’s website and social media profiles Manage logistics for events, including venue selection, setup, takedown and materials Handle event-related communication, such as invitations, confirmations and follow-ups Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
Required Experience | One year of communications, journalism, public relations or event management experience Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials Working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that require attention to details Using computer software and applications for visual design and layout
Required Education | Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Communications, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or an Agricultural field; four additional years of communications, journalism, public relations or event management experience (for a total of five years) may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other | Ability to travel Ability to work nonstandard hours, including weekends and occasionally holidays
Additional Preferred | Marketing and events management knowledge Experience managing professional social media accounts Ability to solve problems independently Knowledge about the University of Idaho, the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, its respective units and programs Knowledge about agriculture/Idaho’s agriculture industry
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions | Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move up to 25 pounds
