Chicago Title I SAT Prep Instructor Full Description

Proximity Learning provides free supplemental academic services to eligible students attending Chicago non-public schools, including Archdiocese, Christian, and independent schools. We are seeking a part-time SAT Prep Instructor to support 11th-grade students beginning in January. This 14-week program helps strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills and develop effective SAT test-taking strategies.

We are looking for a reliable, patient, and flexible educator who is committed to helping high school students build academic skills and confidence. The instructor will work collaboratively with school staff and Proximity Learning’s instructional team to support student success.

Responsibilities
  • Provide SAT instruction in assigned subject areas, including reading, writing, math, and test-taking strategies.
  • Create lesson plans aligned with SAT content and students’ learning needs.
  • Teach students to analyze texts, identify key details, and apply problem-solving strategies.
  • Assign and monitor SAT practice and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and document student progress using assessments, practice results, and classroom performance; adjust instruction based on students’ learning needs.
  • Record student attendance daily and maintain accurate, timely attendance records.
  • Maintain other required program documentation.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages participation and effort.
  • Communicate with Proximity Learning management, school staff, and parents about student progress.

Position Details
Job type: Part-time | Pay: $40 per hour | Work location: In person
Schedule: Four days per week during regular school hours, Monday through Friday. Specific days and hours will be determined by the school schedule.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least one year of experience as a classroom teacher, tutor, or academic support professional.
  • Teaching certification is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the school in Chicago, IL 60644.
