We bridge the gap between traditional textbooks and digital learning through our Learning Site, empowering students and teachers with proficiency-based resources.

As we scale, we are seeking a Controller who doesn’t just record history but helps write our future, someone who understands the complexities of inventory, costing, and digital revenue recognition and can guide our financial operations with clarity, integrity, and strategic insight.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
As the Controller, you will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, leading the accounting function and supporting our continued growth. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, drive system optimization, and ensure accuracy in all financial reporting.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals, overseeing AP, AR, payroll, and financial analysis.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Product teams to ensure alignment and financial clarity.
- Serve as the primary liaison with:
- External auditors and tax advisors
- The foreign subsidiary’s accounting team
- Banking partners
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Serve as the primary owner of the NetSuite ecosystem, including Planning & Budgeting.
- Oversee preparation of periodic GAAP-compliant financial statements:
- Income Statement
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow
- Lead consolidation efforts with our Irish subsidiary, creating separate and combined statements.
- Conduct and present financial analysis, including:
- Revenue and EBITDA
- Working capital
- Department-level budget variance analysis
- Present insights into senior leadership using compelling narratives, charts, dashboards, and visuals.
Inventory, Costing & COGS
- Act as the functional accounting lead for the NetSuite product costing implementation project.
- Define costing requirements and collaborate with external NS developers to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Partner with Operations to ensure accurate inventory accounting, valuation, and cost analysis.
- Participate in evaluating new products and assessing financial impact.
Cash Management & Treasury
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships to support operational and growth objectives.
- Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize working capital.
- Support cash flow activities related to the Irish subsidiary.
Financial Operations & Process Improvement
- Oversee timely, accurate financial transactions and account reconciliations.
- Implement best practices, process improvements, and automation across the Accounting function.
- Drive efficiencies by reducing manual Excel processes through NetSuite optimization.
Internal Controls, Audit & Compliance
- Build annual budgets and reforecasts using NetSuite Planning & Budgeting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage annual external audits.
- Stay current on accounting standards and evolving best practices.
Tax Management
- Oversee all aspects of federal, state, local, and sales tax compliance.
- Coordinate US and Irish tax filings with external accounting vendors.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and assist with strategic tax planning.
- Maintain tax accounting policies and ensure GAAP alignment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Expert-level experience with NetSuite and the NetSuite Planning & Budgeting module.
- Experience working with the Salesforce ecosystem.
- Expert-level Excel skills.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of GAAP, including physical inventory, deferred revenue, and royalty expense.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and building accurate cash flow forecasts from accrual-based accounting.
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities capable of translating complex financials into clear insights.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, precision, and continuous learning.
- Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and implement system improvements.

Salary Description
$120,000 to $150,000 annually
