ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Planning & Development Department (PDD) guides the physical development of the city by preserving our historic sites, planning what can be built where, and ensuring safe construction of buildings and infrastructure. A host of advisory and governing bodies of residents as well as elected officials provide oversight as the city grows and needs arise. The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances. Currently, Planning and Development is looking for a Curriculum and Training Coordinator to join their Human Resources team.
The fundamental function of this position is to provide consulting and learning solutions through collaborative relationships to ensure the delivery of outstanding public service. Work involves conducting needs assessments; identifying root causes: assessing critical competencies; defining core objectives; developing program curricula; presenting workshops and seminars; designing and delivering training; facilitating developmental solutions; consulting with department managers and management groups to analyze and determine appropriate solutions and resources. The incumbent may facilitate team building, strategic planning, process improvement, and problem-solving sessions for work groups, as well as evaluate programs and processes and prepare recommendations.
This Curriculum and Training Coordinator is responsible for managing the Planning & Development Department Certification Program, to include but not limited to; Conduct quarterly audits to ensure compliance with certification requirements, certification reimbursement process, update annual certification program requirements in partnership with senior management, and provide guidance to staff regarding requirements and resources.
This position offers a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to telework up to three days per week, after the initial training period is successfully completed.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to coordinate with outside training consultants on training in code enforcement, tracking, monitoring, and reporting on code enforcement to ensure compliance.
- Ability to develop, deliver and maintain traditional face-to-face training as well as e-Learning.
- Ability to assess needs of the department to ensure training needs are met.
- Possesses developed competencies in strategic thinking, facilitation, process improvement, creativity, dealing with ambiguity, problem solving, and, most importantly, interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the principles, training methods, and techniques used in current training field practices.
- Knowledge of training program development, monitoring, and control systems.
SALARY
Pay Range: $66,185.60 to $113,193.60 annually.
Hiring Range: $66,185.60 to $93,121.60 annually.

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 061. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of experience in training and development programs at a level which required supervision or participation in the planning and programming process.
- Including one year of experience developing supervisory or management training programs.
- Bachelor's degree in education, business, sociology, psychology or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience coordinating with external training consultants on specialized classes.
- Experience with curriculum development that incudes clearly defined objectives, activities, and assessments.
- Experience coordinating and scheduling large training programs that involve mass enrollment for multiple sessions.
- Experience providing customer service to a diverse population.
- Experience in developing and presenting training to all levels of staff.
- Direct experience with eLearning Program Development and LMS administration.
- Experience tailoring business training solutions to address specific organizational needs.
- Experience coordinating and scheduling large training programs and developing training materials.
