Job Summary | Prepares, verifies and analyzes health care data extracted from the electronic health record or financial systems for purposes of quality improvement, clinical operations, or business optimization. Partners with SOM-medical group analysts and data scientists on advanced analytics approaches and AI innovation opportunities.

Hands-on experience:
Participants will work on real-world projects involving data analysis and interpretation and practical skill development in areas like data wrangling, statistical analysis, AI, and data visualization.
· Diverse Rotations:
Rotations may cover various aspects of healthcare analytics, including clinical data analysis, population health management, enterprise KPI design, practice optimization, cost analysis, and quality improvement. Participant will be exposed to practice-provider national benchmarks (Vizient CPSC, AAMC, Sullivan Cotter, MGMA, etc.) and their practical application in healthcare analytics and practice performance measurement.
· Skill Development:
Rotations focus on developing both technical skills (e.g., SQL, Python, data architecture, BI/data visualization tools) and business acumen, allowing participants to understand how data analysis can inform healthcare decisions. At the conclusion of the rotation, the participant will have an opportunity to prepare and present an executive level briefing from a participant project of interest.
Best Practices:
Rotations will provide exposure to best practice data request workflows and analytics product development life cycle for both custom and Epic-based capabilities. Hands-on experience with the ServiceNow project and resource management tools will also be offered.

.Essential Functions
1. Analyzes data extracted from the electronic health record and other business systems into computerized information systems.
2. Researches and evaluates data for accuracy and completeness to ensure integrity for purposes of decision-making across a variety of clinical practice subject areas.
3. Participates in defining the analysis approach and data design process to ensure value is delivered to customer.
4. Co-leads the customer intake process.
5. May be required to run SQL queries and reports; experience with Python a plus.
6. May be required to perform administrative duties such as customer communications, meeting transcription and analysis briefings.
Problem Solving
The data entry specialist follows department and University policies and procedures along with State and Federal laws associated with the assigned area. Once fully trained, incumbents in this position are able to evaluate information and make a determination regarding the status or completeness of the information.Incumbents in this position work under close supervision, perform repetitive tasks and may be required to perform under strict deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years data entry experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; proficiency in the use of health care data for secondary use analysis and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
