The Digital Journalist (Multimedia Associate) works across multiple teams within University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) to create photos and videos for news stories, social media, and other marketing needs. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of extension contingent upon available funding. The Digital Journalist will interview faculty, students, and staff on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, research, internships, and campus events. This position creates and edits content for web and social media, occasionally writing event recaps for Utah State Magazine and appearing on camera for social media content. The role also assists with larger photo and video shoots across campus when necessary.
The Digital Journalist is inquisitive by nature and has the knowledge and skills to schedule and conduct interviews on a wide range of university topics, often balancing multiple projects at a time to create a variety of multimedia content for UMAC and its entities. Responsibilities:

Incumbents work indoors and outdoors in various locations and conditions and can be exposed to weather, contaminants, and temperature changes. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds, retrieve and transport production equipment, and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
