Posting Context Statement  
The University of Idaho is seeking a data-driven, collaborative, and experienced Director of Institutional Research to join the Vandal family. This leadership role supports institutional planning, policy development, data governance, assessment, accreditation, and strategic decision-making through the oversight of data reporting, analysis, and research activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a higher education professional with strong technical expertise and a commitment to data integrity, strategic planning and continuous improvement.

Position Overview 
Reporting to the Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Institutional Research leads a team of professionals to support data-informed decision-making across the institution. The Director manages the development and delivery of accurate, timely reporting to meet internal needs and comply with external requirements from state, federal, and accrediting agencies. This role advances data integrity, streamlines reporting processes, and enhances access to actionable insights. Through collaborative leadership, the Director makes continuous improvements and promotes the effective, ethical use of data in planning, assessment and decision-making.

 Position Qualifications 
Required Experience  | Five years of progressive experience in institutional research, business intelligence or a related field Supervisory or leadership experience in institutional research or higher education Experience managing and analyzing institutional data for compliance and strategic decision-making Knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements (e.g., IPEDS, SBOE) Experience with reporting tools and statistical software (e.g., SAS, Tableau, and Power BI)

Required Education  | Master’s Degree in statistics, applied economics, public/business administration, higher education or a related field

Additional Preferred  | Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant field Experience with assessment, accreditation and academic program review Demonstrated success in leading or collaborating with cross-functional teams Familiarity with Banner or similar ERP systems Advanced knowledge of survey research methods and institutional data trends Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data clearly to various audiences
