Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary | The Food Science program is seeking a motivated and creative student worker to assist the program specialist and director with managing and promoting Food Science events and activities across various social media platforms. This role is ideal for a student with strong communication skills, an eye for design, and a passion for digital engagement. The Social Media Assistant will work with the program specialist and director to ensure timely dissemination of content.
Responsibilities
Work with program specialist and director to create, schedule, and publish social media content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and others as appropriate. Promote program events, announcements, and student opportunities in a timely and engaging manner. Attend key program events to capture photos/videos for social media use. Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and strategic messaging. Ensure content adheres to university branding and accessibility guidelines. Assist with basic graphic design and editing tasks using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and peers to gather and verify content.
Work Schedule: Flexible hours, typically 0-5 hours per week depending on workload and event schedule. Some evening or weekend availability may be required for event coverage.
Required Qualifications | Strong written communication skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with major social media platforms and content creation tools. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Interest in communications, or digital media preferred. Prior experience with social media for organizations or clubs is a plus.
