Job Summary | The University of Kentucky seeks a visionary and pragmatic Director of Digital Media Operations to lead digital media distribution across academic, research, and public engagement initiatives. This key leadership role oversees live-streamed events, digital content production, and media transmission for UK’s Digital Studio, a unique collaboration among the College of Communication and Information, UK Athletics, and JMI Sports. The Director will drive strategic planning and technical operations, serving as the lead subject matter expert in live event workflows, while fostering hands-on learning for students and ensuring high-quality production across platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of broadcast technologies, exceptional leadership, and the ability to balance academic goals with high-profile production demands. They will manage a 24/7 production environment, develop training and workflows, and lead a team to deliver seamless digital media experiences. With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and educational excellence, the Director will help position the UK Digital Studio as a national model for media education and professional production.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities 6+ years of experience in digital media distribution, transmission engineering, or live streaming operations in a leadership capacity. Experience managing technical teams, including staff and student employees. Ability to design, implement, and manage media infrastructure projects from concept through deployment. Familiarity with university learning management systems (LMS), digital asset management (DAM), and cloud-based media solutions. Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve digital transmission, network, and streaming issues to maintain smooth on-air operations. Experience with technical writing, system documentation, and training development for digital media operations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with faculty, students, and external partners. Availability for on-site support at the UK Digital Studio, including occasional evening and weekend coverage based on event schedules.
